While the white on red color scheme initially attracted my eye to this car, it wasn't what inspired me the most. It shows nearly 94k miles on it and records all the way back to 1996. The seller is also very forthright with every detail about the actual condition of the car and has a good eBay seller rating with 265 transactions and 100% feedback.
quote from seller's listing:
I am the 3rd owner, where the first owner purchased the car new from “Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo” in Portland, Oregon. She owned the car from 1988 to 1992. I contacted Ron Tonkin, and they do not have the maintenance records for this owner.
The second owner owned the car from 1992 to 2010 (18 years), and it was his daily driver. I have complete maintenance records from this second owner, starting from October, 1996. The car was dealer maintained at “Ferrari of San Francisco”.
I purchased the car in January, 2010 as a second fun car. I am selling it because I’ve been offered a real estate investment opportunity, and the capital from this sale will help.
The owner goes on to detail every major area of the car and there isn't anything that would scare me off. The 2nd gear issue he describes is a classic Ferrari transmission at work and is correct that it goes away after warming. And I agree that if you intend to drive this car with any regularity, it is better to buy a car that's been driven and maintained vs. a garage queen with ultra low miles in most cases. At $29.9k buy-it-now, I would strongly consider this car if in the market for a 308 or 328 series car.
