1976 Lancia Scorpion

It appears that the 65,000 mile Lancia Scorpion we featured here at CICFS in June is back up for sale. Bought by the current owner for use in the Woodward Dream Cruise, it is being offered for sale once again with no reserve. Located outside of Detriot, this is quite possibly one of the best Scorpions left in the US.

This is an outstanding Lancia Scorpion (Montecarlo in Europe) with low original 65,555 miles on it (Receipts that come with the car prove the accuracy of miles). This Lancia is just beautiful in every way. I bought it from Tempe Arizona for the summer to drive around and for the Woodward Dream Cruise and now selling it before winter comes. This Lancia Scorpion is always garaged. Car never seen snow or salt and it looks like it was never driven on wet pavement either. Car needs nothing! Buy it, drive it immediately and show it off. It drives perfect. Pulls straight and strong. The 5 speed manual transmission shifts perfectly with no synchro issues. Clutch is like new. Brakes work as they should. Engine pulls strong. Alignment is straight. Cars exterior looks great. No rust. Paint shines beautifully. Tires have lots of tread on them. Interior, seats, carpet, dash are all in an amazing shape. Engine bay and front trunk are tidy and clean. Removable roof tucks away and works awesome. Under Carriage and floors are all in clean solid shape. No rust!

I spent a few thousands dollars getting it ready for the summer with new head gaskets and all fluids flushed and replaced. I have all the documents and receipts dating back to 1977 including the recent work I have done on it. Original owner kept the car until 2005 since new. It's been babied all its life. This car has countless laminated records/receipts and even has Original Factory window sticker that came with the car. Car has books, receipts, service manuals, brochures, miscellaneous parts, original tool bag with tools, spare and jack.

Radio, tape player, heater, fan blower, lights, signals, wipers and locks all work as they should. Car came with factory AC but missing compressor. Car has automatic choke to warm it up and it works beautifully. Car starts like a brand new one. No hesitation and no smoke. No accident history, car is solid, clean, straight, no visible rust and drives perfect. I will be surprised if you'll ever find a cleaner or better Scorpion in this original and unmodified shape.

There's a good amount of bidding interest in this Scorpion, and my guess is we'll probably wind up somewhere around the $10,000 to $12,000 mark by auction's end. Personally, these Scorpions, even in US trim, are much more appealing than their loosely related Bertone styled cousin, the Fiat X1/9. Pininfarina nailed it on this car, as those unfamiliar with this Lancia may take it for a 3/4th scale Ferrari. Little does anyone know just how accessible these mid-engined sports cars based on Beta mechanicals actually are.

1973 Fiat 130 Coupe

The 1973 Fiat 130 Coupe we featured a few weeks ago is back up for sale and the seller has lowered the price by over $5,000, increasing bidding interest in this rare, luxurious two door.

Up for sale this rare find, this is a 1973 Fiat Pininfarina 130 Coupe, upon research we have found that the Fiat 130 Coupe was never sold new in the United States, and very few that reside stateside. It is a shame this car lives in relative obscurity, as it was an award winning design with a 3.2 liter V6 developed by Ferrari engineer Aurelio Lampredi. Most 130 coupes featured a Borg-Warner 3 speed automatic, but this one is a 5-speed manual was available, current owner owns both auto and this fabulous 5 speed. Four wheel disc brakes and four wheel independent suspension rounded out the package. This example for sale in our showroom located in Miami and is finished in blue with cream leather interior that is nothin short of like new condition, if you collect rare European cars this is a must and a quite a popular look for the 1970s.

It's apparent the seller is motivated to move this car with this recent price reduction, but will it be enough to garner interest amongst the Fiat and Italian car faithful? Those in the market for a 130 Coupe have few options on US shores and this 5-speed coupe is certainly a mint example. I still believe the asking price is about $5,000 to $7,000 too dear, but in a little less than a week, we'll see where the final bid settles.

1995 Ferrari 456GT

When you hear the name Ferrari, images of sleek sports cars and racing victories fill the mind. We often forget that this company has also produced some of the finest GT cars to hit the road. Case in point this 456GT. Seldom seen on the roads today, this was a handsome coupe with powerful 5.5 liter V12 backed by a six-speed manual or four speed automatic. This 456GT for sale in Miami is a low mileage example of the touring Ferrari breed that looks stealthy in black.

Prices for these Ferraris have fallen to a point where they are affordable to more enthusiasts, but, of course, that doesn't mean the expensive maintenance has gone away. This car's asking price represents the top end of 456GT values these days. With a recent service and low mileage, however, it does reassure potential buyers by presenting some redeeming value. Given the nature of the beast, some might prefer this car with the automatic transmission, but for me, the six-speed gearbox suits me just fine. It may not have the edgy character of the later F550 Maranello, but this Ferrari is sublime and could still rip your face off if you put your foot in it.

1968 Ferrari 365GT 2+2

Towards the end of the 1960s, Ferrari was in a transition phase. With the introduction of the mid-engine Dino in 1968, the model lineup would forever include a mid-engined sports car in the lineup. Also, more creature comforts began to filter their way into Ferrari road cars, such as the case with this 365GT 2+2. This was the first Ferrari to feature power steering and air conditioning, which was standard equipment for US customers. With its familiar Columbo 4.4 liter V12 delivering 320 horsepower, this touring machine was capable of a run to 60 in just over seven seconds. Over 800 copies were produced from 1967 through 1971, giving way to the 365 GTC/4. This 365GT 2+2 for sale in California is a European market car in eye catching Fly Yellow replete with California black plates.

1968 Ferrari 365 GT. Excellent Matching Numbers Euro Model. The Ferrari 365 GT was designed by Pininfarina and followed in the vein of the 500 Superfast, bearing a striking resemblance to it. Sometimes referred to as the "Queen Mother" of Ferraris, it was the last of the front engine, wood dash cars unfettered by DOT and EPA regulations. It continued a wonderful legacy of awesome road cars that began in the 1950s with the Columbo engined 166 and 250. The example here is a Euro version 1968 model that has not been offered for sale in over 20 years. It has been in the careful custody of its current owner since the 90s. A Ferrari/Maserati collector and enthusiast, the current owner has fastidiously maintained the car and recently has reluctantly decided to part with it.

I had the pleasure of owning this very car prior to the current owner. It was my wife's daily driver. It provided us years of pleasurable and reliable (exciting) "transportation" and completed several (fast) trips up the coast to the Monterey weekends in August. IT IS AN AWESOME CAR ON THE ROAD! With 12 cylinders up front, 5 speeds, quad exhaust, Borrani wires, leather interior, wood dash and wheel, and super svelte styling, the car literally has it all. Just 800 examples were built between 1968 and 1971. (Compare that figure to 1284 Daytonas...)

This Ferrari is a matching numbers example. Here is the original chassis plate. Chassis # 11853. The wheels are original Borrani wires, including the spare. Tires are correct and extremely rare Michelin XWX. The tires have plenty of tread, but are a bit aged. For any high mileage driving, it is recommended that newer tires be fitted. The body on this Ferrari is excellent. It has never suffered an accident or damage. All the lines are nice and crisp, just as original. In 1998, the car was repainted professionally in fly yellow, and the bumpers were re chromed. New window rubbers were installed and and the trim around the windows was re anodized as per original.

The paint has held up extremely well and needs no attention. The car appears large from the outside, but once inside, it's just right. Visibility is superb in all directions with no blind spots. The seats and interior are in excellent condition. The leather shows little wear and is nicely patina’d. It has factory air conditioning, although it has gone unused for years. It worked previously and may just need some freon. The electrics all work as they should, including the crazy motorized front 1/4 vent windows, controlled by the switches shown here, just forward of the window switches.

The odometer shows 93,173 kilometers (57,767 miles) and although unverifiable, is believed to be original. The condition of the car supports it. The early cars such as this one, came with this gorgeous wood rimmed steering wheel. It's literally a work of art. This one is in excellent condition. The 365 GT is a true 2+2. The leather is all in nice shape. The very nice original headliner is shown here.

The car runs beautifully. All three Webers, both distributors, and everything else that matters-all in fine fettle. The correct original plate is still intact on the air cleaner, as well as the correct yellow fuel line. The underside is rust free. Original rockers seen here. This is the right rear underside. The left rear underside. The 365 GT is such a beautiful piece of machinery. The classic design elements characteristic of early Ferraris are all here, like the famous egg crate grill. Really, words are not necessary when the photos herein aptly represent this Ferrari's impeccable beauty. The original correct leather tool rolls are present. The original jack is here, but most of the tools are non-original replacements. A parts manual (reprint) and an original owner's manual are included.

This is a GRAND OPPORTUNITY to own an excellent example of a classic front engined V12 Ferrari that you can actually drive. And drive it you will. When the current owner and long-time friend of mine called me to say he was selling, I was a bit saddened. Having enjoyed owning this very car myself, and seeing the joy it has brought him, it will be bitter sweet to see it go. Ferraris do that to you. There is a very reasonable reserve on this auction. It is not available for sale anywhere else.

Interestingly, these late sixties 2+2 Ferraris are some of the more affordable pieces of hardware to emerge from Maranello. Entrance into this club starts around $60,000 to $70,000 and for the most well restored or original examples, look to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of around $120,000 to $130,000 or so. I’d wager to say this particular car’s reserve may be hovering somewhere around $90,000 to $100,000 or so. This 365GT certainly looks sharp in yellow, but I would prefer a more subtle color, such as a dark gray metallic or deep burgundy or brown. If it’s a classic V12 Ferrari you seek, these sleek machines offer relatively good bang for the buck.

2007 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT

The Series 4 Maserati Quattroporte has been going strong for eight years now. These executive saloons have been snapped up by those wanting something a bit different from the Mercedes-Benz S Class and BMW 7 series establishment. While most of these cars are ordered in muted hues such as maroon, gray or black, this red one certainly jumps out at you. For sale in Tennessee, this particular example has the more recent ZF automatic gearbox, not the DuoSelect transmission that can be more finicky around town and lead to greater maintenance expenditures over time.

I can’t say that I’ve seen a red Quattroporte before and admittedly, this car won’t be to everyone’s taste. But for the individual who wants something different or wants to flaunt it, it doesn’t get larger or more brash than this. The asking price of just under $50,000 is right around what average Quattroportes of this year are commanding. Whether the color will be a detriment to its value remains to be seen.

1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider

We can't get enough of Alfa Romeo Spiders here at CICFS. While perusing the ads today I came across this Duetto for sale in The Netherlands in a vibrant shade of blue set off nicely by its red leather interior. It lends a decidedly nautical theme to this classic roadster.

Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider 1600 in very nice condition and in a very beautiful dark blue color. It benefited from a restoration a few years back and has a rust free body! Classic dark red interior and well kept. Chrome is in very good condition. Technically perfect and maintained!

Most Duettos I've seen this year are being offered solidly in the low to high $20,000 range. At $29,000, this is priced up there, but the quality of the work is impressive. The engine bay looks especially tidy, as well. Now, if only the Euro to Dollar exchange rate were a little more favorable....

1991 Alfa Romeo 164L

We've featured a bunch of clean Alfa Romeo 164s on CICFS. While the newest US market 164 is going on 17 years old, it doesn't seem that there is a shortage of low mileage examples out there. While it was the first front-wheel drive exexutive car for Alfa Romeo, enthusiasts have noted that even without a traditional rear-drive chassis, these sedans still have good poise on the road. This 164L for sale in Pittsburgh has covered a scant 22,000 miles and looks amazingly modern in white even though the car is over 20 years old.

One owner, only 24,000 original miles. We have all the books and original window sticker. This is a rare find! Four door, 2 Wheel Drive, Alloy Wheels, Sun/Moon Roof, Air Conditioning, Leather Seats, Power Windows, Alarm, AM/FM Radio, Anti-theft, Antilock Brakes.

While this car has extremely low mileage and appears to be an unmolested example, we're probably about $2,000 to $3,000 off the mark here. Typically, clean 164s will trade hands in the $7,000 to $10,000 range, possibly reaching a little beyond that if it's the sportier 164Q model we're dealing with.

1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

The Series 4 Alfa Romeo Spider we featured last week sold for $12,600. Not a bad deal at all considering the low mileage and stunning condition. Here’s another Spider Veloce similar to the one featured last week that looks great on a set of Panasport alloy wheels. While I never had a problem with the stock wheels, this classic pattern adds a little something special to what is already a great design.

1991 Alfa Romeo (Red) Spider Veloce Roadster. Mille Magna Red w/Tan Leather & Suede Interior. Mileage: 48,975 pampered miles. This vehicle was sold at Cornes Motors Ltd. in San Diego, CA. in 1991. I believe it to be a three owner vehicle. Has all the original books and records including the sales brochure. Also included is a complete shop service manual and related CD. The original Alfa Spider rims (telephone dial) style have been replaced by five (5) PanaSport aluminum wheels and new Toyo Proxes 4/205/55R15 tires. What a difference in the overall vehicle's appearance. Whew! For those purist out there I will include the five (5) original rims with the vehicle's sale.

New custom logo floormats are also included. The convertible top assembly is in great condition with no rips or tears visible and a crystal clear back window. The seats are leather and suede and are in good condition (some wear showing on suede part of seats). The vehicle has had some paintwork on the passengers side door and (R) front fender due to a minor "fender bender" other than that the body's straight. The vehicle runs and drives great! This same year, same color Alfa Spider Veloce just sold on eBay Motors last Friday 08/10/12 for $12,600 with 41K+ miles and the original rims. I spent over $2,000. upgrading the old wheels and tires on the vehicle. This vehicle needs nothing but a new owner!

Given the recent sale of a nearly identical car, it's safe to say the reserve is a little north of $10,000. Panasport wheels are not inexpensive and I doubt 8,000 miles is really that much of a detriment to buyers in the grand scheme of thing. It seems these lower mileage Series 4 Spiders have settled in strongly in the $10,000 to $15,000 range, with the usual condition, mileage and color being the main determinants in value.

1973 Fiat 130 Coupe

The last Fiat 130 Coupethat we featured here at CICFS had been advertised on multiple occasions and found no buyers at $41,900. A princely sum to pay for an almost 40 year old Fiat that is not a Dino. Coincidentally, another 130 Coupe has surfaced for sale in Florida, this time with the rare 5-speed manual gearbox. The blue over tan color combination fits the sharp lines of this luxury coupe from the seventies quite well.

While the asking price is lower than the previous 130 Coupe we featured, over $35,000 is still too high for this car. While the mileage is reasonable and condition is good, the market for big, classic Fiats is not currently this strong in Europe. Here in the US, the 130 doesn’t have a strong following as they were never sold here new. The 5-speed gearbox certainly makes this cruiser more desirable for some, but even still, we’re probably looking at a $20,000 to $25,000 car at most, considering what these cars are selling for in good condition in Europe. I’ve always been a fan of these 130 Coupes and if I was going to buy one, this one with the manual gearbox is as good as any.

1961 Lancia Flaminia Berlina

The Flaminia was Lancia's flagship throughout the 1960s. Designed by Pininfarina, the Berlina was built in house by Lancia, the last model to be built at the Borgo San Paolo factory. This was a sizeable sedan with presence, so much so that the President of Italy at the time, Giovanni Gronchi, ordered four stretched versions with a landaulet style roof over the rear passenger compartment. While not the Presidenziale version, this Flaminia for sale is equipped with the larger 2.8 V6 and looks rather stately in basic black.

Center armrest, rear armrest, front center armrest, radio. Lancia Flaminia Berlina 2.8, three owners with only 86,000 original kilometers. Super clean condition! Body very solid, no rust below ground, perfect. Mechanically 100% and drives like new. Complete interior refurbishment. The original version 2.8 is very rare!

Flaminia Berlinas in good nick can bring upwards of $30,000 these days. The asking price of this car represents great value for a rare Italian classic in mint condition. The Berlinas usually don't bring the higher values that the sportier versions Zagato, Touring and Pininfarina produced, but they are just as special. This particular Berlina is one of the better ones that I've seen on offer. If I was wealthy and needed a discrete sedan in which to waft around town in, I could very well see myself in this car. Unlike a lot of Italian cars that shout about with unconventional styling and bold colors, the Flaminia has a more conservative, but equally stylish presence. But given that this is a Lancia, I'd almost surely want to skip the driver and get behind the wheel myself.
