What better way to celebrate Christmas than with a red roadster? The Giulietta is where Alfa Romeo got its start in building smaller, more affordable vehicles. This range included sedan, coupe, estate and Spider variants featuring variations of Alfa's twin cam 1.3 liter four cylinder engine. The Spider marked what would be the beginning of long tradition of roadsters for the marque. This particular example for sale in Houston is an older restoration, but is complete and presents well.
The Alfa Romeo Guiletta and Guilia Spiders represent Alfa`s trademark shape of the 1950s and 1960s. Their understated but charming lines and nimble, responsive platform have long made them an “all-time” car among Italian automotive enthusiasts.
Finished in red paintwork over black interior upholstery with red piping, the 1962 Giulietta Spider presented here displays an aging restoration with excellent body and panel fitment throughout. The engine compartment and undercarriage are solid and remain very original. This desirable example is accompanied by the original Alfa Romeo Warranty booklet, restoration pictures, original literature, shop manuals and once removed original parts. While not a show quality contender, it is a very strong driver and benefits from a recent mechanical service. This handsome Alfa Romeo offers spirited open touring at a reasonable price! Desirable Giulietta Spider! Eligible for vintage rally & racing events! Ready for Continued Enjoyment! $34,900 negotiable.
These classic Spiders have been commanding strong prices in the market for some time. Given this is an older restoration and is showing some signs of wear (especially on the dashboard), I think it would be reasonable to negotiate down a bit on the asking price. If this Spider could be had in the high 20k range, to maybe $30,000 max, it would be a decent deal for someone seeking a practical classic. While these aren't the easiest vehicles to maintain, for me, it would be worth it just to drive one of these top down on a fall day and listen to that sonorous exhaust note.
The Alfa Romeo Milano, or 75 as it was known outside of the US market, was the end of an era. It was the last Alfa Romeo designed before the Fiat takeover, and was the last rear drive Alfa Romeo sedan to be produced. Introduced as a replacement for the Giulietta in 1985, the 75 and Milano enjoyed good sales, selling almost a quarter million units over a three year period.
Milanos are noted for their rear mounted transaxle and sonorous 2.5 and 3.0 V6 engines. Few examples survive today stateside and this particular car with a shade under 54,000 miles under its belt is certainly one of the best you could find.

I don't doubt the dealer's claim that this could possibly be the nicest Milano left in the US. It certainly appears from the pictures that this car lives up to the seller's claim that it needs nothing. Also, the timing belt change at 35,000 miles is reassuring. With a few days left in the auction, bidding is strong and heading towards $10,000. A final estimate of around $7,000 to $8,000 seems reasonable, but you more than likely won't come across another Milano in this shape for some time.
If I was making a short list of iconic Italian sports cars, the 1966-1993 Alfa Romeo Spider would be in the top five of that list. While it wasn't the most powerful or outlandish vehicle to emerge from Italy, the Spider represented qualities we come to expect from Italian motoring: a sonorous exhaust note, handling that encourages spirited driving and the ability to drive al fresco.
While the Spiders of the late 1970s and 1980s might not be the most favorite for enthusiasts due to emissions equipment and larger bumpers, this particular 1987 Spider is too nice to ignore. It's black paintwork lends a monochromatic look and with less than 10,000 miles, this car is almost certainly one of the lowest mileage Spiders in the US.
West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional and stunning example of this rare ultra low original 7,905 miles and original owner 1987 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate Fuel Injection Convertible in the highly desirable color combination of black exterior paint with matching black original soft top with a gorgeous light tan original seats interior with dark brown carpets! Obviously always garaged and covered with no rust or accident damage whatsoever; this particular example must be seen to be believed and driven to be truly appreciated! Only driven by one very meticulous and mature driver since new; this car has been babied all the way!
The original factory 'Black' paint is in exceptional condition with only very minor imperfections, if any, noticeable upon very close inspection. The car boasts its original factory canvas black soft top and original and always covered and still as new vinyl seats and the interior is quite stunning throughout with no cracks in the dashboard or noticeable imperfections!
The Graduate, named in honor of the movie 'The Graduate' where an Alfa Romeo had a starring role, is a legendary Italian roadster born in the sixties. It featured vinyl seats, steel wheels, and other amenities and the Alfa Romeo Spider (105/115 series) was produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo from 1966 to 1993. Widely regarded as a design classic, it remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The three first series were assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco and the fourth series in San Giorgio Canavese. The last Spider was produced in April 1993, it was also the last rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo produced before Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was introduced.
The series 3 spider came with a 2 liter DOHC engine with electronic Bosch fuel injection or twin Webber carburators as an option in Europe. In the United States emissions devices gave the car a significant 10 hp drop. However, thanks to variable camshaft timing the engine is still lively, especially since the car weighs little over 2500 lbs. (1000 kilos). On both country roads as well as highways, power is more than enough to drive fast. The gearbox has long throws but is very precise, remember your input goes directly to your gearbox and not some elastic band linkage found in "modern" cars. 0-100kmh (0-60mph) is approximately 9 seconds and top speed (top closed) is a real 200kmh (120 mph).
In 1986, the base-level Spider, the Graduate cost just under $14,000. All Spider models shared basic mechanical components such as the 120 cubic-inch engine, and five-speed manual gearbox. Disc brakes could be found on all four corners. Only some 4,339 cars were built in 1987.
This exceptionally well maintained and serviced example drives exactly like such a supremely low mileage example should and you will surely look long and hard to find a finer example of this increasingly desirable and collectible garage kept and rust and accident free Alfa Romeo Spider Roadster with only some 8K original miles in this very striking color combination available anywhere else!
The asking price of $16,500 is certainly the top end of what one would expect to pay for a 1987 Spider. There are always clean, original, low mileage Spiders on the market, but probably only a handful with under 10,000 miles. If I were in the market for a Spider, I'd prefer either the original Series I version made famous by the movie The Graduate (and after which our feature vehicle is named for) or the final Series 4 Spider with it's flush bumpers, clean rear styling and Bosch Motronic fuel injection. Still, there is no denying that this could possibly be one of the best Spiders currently on offer in the US.
The Alfa Romeo Alfetta was the successor to the Alfa Romeo 1750/2000 Berlina, and if any car had big shoes to fill, it was this one. The 1750 was a popular sight on Italian roads in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and served Italian police faithfully. The 2000, while less common, had a 2 liter twin cam four cylinder that was equipped with dual carburetors (mechanical fuel injection taking place of the carburetors for the US market). When the Alfetta arrived, it harkened a split in the upper reaches of the Alfa lineup. The Alfetta served as the more middle range vehicle, while the Alfa 6, a very rare sight these days, took the flagship role.
Here is a well-cared for 1979 Alfetta for sale in Rhode Island for a reasonable $5,500.
A very nice rust free California Alfa. Well serviced/kept. Stainless Euro bumpers fitted. BBS and factory alloys. Very fun to drive. $5,500 obo
These Alfettas have never been hugely popular with collectors and Alfisti alike, but they are an inexpensive way into Italian car ownership versus the more desirable GTV coupes. The slimmer Euro bumpers are certainly a nice touch and with a little adjustment to the front wheels' offset, you would have a nice, unique alternative to the more popular BMW 320i of the same vintage.
The 2600 range represented an end of an era for Alfa Romeo. These were the last Alfas to employ a twin cam six cylinder engine, variations of which had been in use since the 1920s. The 2600 Spider, with its bodywork by Carrozzeria Touring, looks similar to its smaller Giulietta Spider sibling. However, it is a completely different vehicle, with a longer wheelbase and a small rear seat. Only 2,255 Spiders were made and they are a rare sight on US roads.
Here is a mint example in classic Rosso Alfa for sale in Santa Barbara, California.
Offered for sale is a gorgeous, numbers matching 1966 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider Touring finished in its factory correct red (Rosso Alfa) over a black leather interior. With only 2,257 Spiders produced between 61’ to 68’, the 2600 spiders are becoming exceedingly rare to come by. The exterior is gorgeous. The paint is deep and glossy, showing only a few minor imperfections. The body is extraordinarily straight with all doors and panels fitting as they should.
The undercarriage is extremely solid showing no rust or evidence of accidents. This car has been carefully shielded from the elements throughout its proud ownership. The interior is beautiful, the plush leather seats are in great shape and free of any significant wear. We are in the process of restoring the extremely rare companion hard top for the car, which will be included in sale.
As with all classic Alfas, it would be important to source a specialist mechanic, especially in this case, since parts are getting more and more scarce for a limited production model such as this. Still, for the determined collector, this is a nice example of an important model in the history of Alfa Romeo.
Feast your eyes on what is described in the ad as The Best In The World. It's very nice, but I'm not sure I'd go that far. But I don't deny that it's very, very nice indeed. My only real issue is the aggressive front air dam -- but why not rock it until it meets its inevitable fate with a parking curb.
Ok folks, this maybe the best milano verde in the world. Featured in grass roots magazine and more importantly a EX- TODD SPRUELL from Spruell Alfa in ATLANTA car. Im personally friends with him and when it went up for sale 3-4 years ago I knew I had to have it. This milano has been hand detail with the best parts available from his collection and my collection of parts, NOTHING, I mean NOTHING is not top notch grade. I have over 30k in this car but to tell you the truth and the reason why Im selling it is because I have 9 cars all very nice exotic and rare cars which leaves me very little time to drive them. This milano has been sitting at my warehouse for the last 9 months without me driving it other than the once every 2 weeks trip around the block to keep it going. I have 3 YES 3 HUGE 3 ring binders of all the work done to this car. I can honestly say that there isnt one item that isnt working in its proper way, being a 1988 and 23 years old that would take a lot of $$$$ to get this car where it is in todays parts terms. The car was stripped and completely taken apart and painted lotus silver, the paint is like glass, body is DEAD straight AND it shows, custom one off front air damn. Nice 17 inch wheels, full custom stereo, nice tint, a/c and heat work great, I had "s" cams installed along with followers and headers leading into a magna flow exhaust. I do have a bypass pipe for the cats if someone wants that it will go woth the car. All new brakes and and pads. It had a suspension set up that would make anyone sh*t thier pants in the turns, it handles like no tomorrow. As you can see from the pics the under carriage of the car is clean and rust free, look at all the performance parts. Powder coated this, chrome that. MOMO wheel with rare alfa horn cap, full evolution car cover, storage boxes in the trunk, custom air intake, euro grill painted to match car. heat shield material under the hood, new battery, I just took the car to the shop and told them to go over it from "BUMPER TO BUMPER" and fix anything they see. Look I have zero budget limits when it comes to cars and this is a pure example of what comes out when its done. on 11-12-10 i had the following to make the car zero problem and 100 percent perfect. interstate battery, rebuild alternator, replace shifter bushings, pull drive shaft and replace correct bolt weights, check alfa control lights, washer bottle and houseing, replace lower a frame bushings, lower ball joint right side, oil change, wheel alignment, vavle adjustment, cam followers exhaust, polish cams, rotor and cap. total cost 2645.85 I have spent in the 3-4 years that I have owned it around 20k to get this car to top shape. The recaros are perfect. Im sure im leaving off a massive amount of stuff but I would suggest calling me and asking questions before bidding. Im selling for one and one reason alone, I just dont drive it like I should. It deserves to go to someone that will enjoy it more than me.
I'm a sucker for these late 80's styling exercises. Plus the faithful of the model proclaim it a real value in terms of its performance compared to its competitors of the period.
GTV's are always easy fodder for this blog but the pictures and action on this auction compelled me to post it. It's so sharp and really presented the way I'd want to own. Close to original but with tasteful upgrades to complete the look.
quote from the seller's listing:
Here is my 1968 Alfa Romeo GTV originally sold in France. The car was brought to the US in the early 2000's and was restored to a very nice driver condition in 2005 and before my ownership. The car runs and drives very well. It is completely reliable. The paint is not perfect but presents very well. The can starts and runs great. It shifts very well with no second gear issues. All lights and gauges work. The car drives very well around town as well as on the highway. The brakes and clutch are in good operating condition. The car was fitted with an aftermarket air conditioning unit. 14" Panasport wheels with good Yokohama tires. Overall a nice GTV and cool because Alfa never sold a 1968 model year car here in the States. ***Please note I have changed the amber inboard lights to clear. Amber lights included.
Bidding has been swift and considering there is still 7 days to go with this auction, it appears the reserve has been met and the current bid is over $18k.
I am a huge fan of this era of Alfa Romeo sports sedans. While here in the states we fortunate to get the top spec engine offered in the 164 QV (quattrovalvole meaning 4 valves per cylinder), there was at least one more variant we didn't get that was even more special; the Alfa Romeo 164 Q4 (short for Quadrifoglio 4 this time) which featured that top spec motor AND a sophisticated 4 wheel drive system.
I am offering for sale my 4 door, limited edition, fully equipped, one owner, 164 Q4 manufactured in 1995. The car has just done 68,000 km (42,200 miles) since new, it´s metallic gray (grigio Lothar) with a black leathered interior and front electrical seats with individual heating. The vehicle has always been garaged so the original factory paint is in great condition. All its maintenance and services have been performed as scheduled. All of its systems, components and parts are in perfect condition and completely functional.
What a sexy car and it ticks all the boxes for the period: 3 piece alloy rims, body kit, projector headlights, trick 4 wheel drive system, and Italian style to top it off! Making a jump to the listing reveals more specs on the car and additional pictures from the seller. While it would be difficult to import to the states, many other markets would probably have little issue in bringing this modern classic to their garage.
Here's a really sharp Sprint Veloce for sale. I saw this car in person about two months ago at the Brighton Rally where I was helping out with website coverage of the event. It's very approachable as a car that looks great but is in usable club or weekend condition. The lines, stance, and wheels immediately pulled my eye to this car while I was wondering around the Brighton Motorsports showroom.
quote from the listing:
Brighton Motorsports is pleased to present this highly desirable 1958 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce vintage racing coupe – perfect to enjoy driving on the road, rallies and vintage racing.
The Giulietta Sprint was introduced in 1954 – it was an immediate success for Alfa Romeo, with strong sales. It was Alfa Romeo’s first real “Grand Touring” sporty coupe that also echoed their colorful racing heritage. Beginning in 1956 the factory offered the higher performance Veloce version which included a finned cast aluminum sump, higher compression, hotter cams, tubular headers, special Weber carburetors, oil cooler, huge finned drum brakes, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and other modifications to make this model far superior to the standard Giulietta.
This car was a regular at Lime Rock Park and other famous road racing circuits where its previous owner of 25 years raced it, including many VSCCA vintage events. The log book and other documentation are included with car.
Built and raced by Keith Goring of Alfa’s Unlimited, this car retains its original, numbers-matching Veloce engine block with a 1400 piston kit and a 101-1300 head and intake, and dual Weber carburetors. Gear changes are made by a lightened GTA close-ratio 5-speed gearbox and lightweight flywheel.
The rear end is a ZF unit with 5:12 gears and limited slip. It stops very well, thanks to the larger rear brakes, and the original larger Veloce front brakes. It is a dual-circuit brake system with a 1969 ATE GTV master cylinder.
The tubular exhaust makes the wonderful music you expect to hear from a vintage Alfa Romeo race car. The clutch, transmission and brakes are all in good working order.
The interior is finished in basic race car trim – the floor and roof are freshly sprayed in chip-resistant liner, and the remainder of the interior remains in “period” look including the hounds-tooth fabric seats.
The engine was rebuilt a few years back at Alfa’s Unlimited with just a few races since, and our own technicians have just completed a full service on the engine, and refreshed the engine compartment and other details, such as fresh spark plugs and wires. The radiator has been rodded and painted. The engine runs strong and smooth.
The exterior is in very presentable, good condition. Since vintage racing can be a contact sport, we’ve re-sprayed the body in a quality paint finish but certainly not to show-car standards. The paint is fresh – there are no dings, dents, scratches or other paint/finish defects.
All of the body trim and emblems are present, complete and in good condition. The nose trim on the front of the car is a silver-matte finish and could be chrome-plated by the next owner if desired.
It can be street driven as-is or easily returned to vintage racing or rallying. This is such a fun car, if you have never experienced a vintage Alfa Romeo that has been built for racing it is very hard to put into words the absolute joy to be had. The car is great mechanically.
Please note that I do not represent Brighton Motorsports with this listing.
