1996 Alfa Romeo 155 1.7 Twinspark

The Alfa Romeo 155 was never sold in the US, even though it was introduced before the marque's pullout from this market in 1995. Designed as a replacement for the 75, it was based on the Type Three platform which also underpinned the Lancia Dedra and Fiat Tempra and Marea. The 155 was campaigned with great success, winning the Italian Superturismo Championship along with the British, German and Spanish Touring Car Championships. This 155 for sale in North Carolina by an Alfa enthusiast is thought to have been brought here by a service member using the one car importation rule.

I have owned this car for about 10 years. It has seen very limited use in the past 5. The Alfa 155 won the DTM touring car championship in 1996-This is a great drivers car. This is an Italian Spec Car that was sold by Moto Exotica to me in 2002. Since they had a valid New York Title at the time I am assuming it had come in under the 1 car rule for overseas servicemen. It currently has a valid Maine title and I have been able to register and drive it in NY, Rhode Island, and Maine. You may be required to get a VIN inspection in your state. The VIN listed above is not correct as eBay will not allow me to enter the European 17 digit VIN. This has not been converted to MPH but it does have a stock converter and fuel injection.

Condition: The exterior of the car is in great condition, It has factory Alloys, It has been indoor stored most of it's life. It has been completely repainted after an accident in Rhode Island using the original Sikkins color, The interior shows some sign of use, mostly staining on the drivers and rear seat and some wear on the drivers carpet/ (see pictures). At some point the Momo Steering wheel and shift knob were stolen while it was at the body shop. The wheel has been replaced but needs a horn button and spacer/gaiter. (I also have the stock steering wheel) The radio face was also stolen but I will include a new Sony radio ready to install. Mechanically the car currently runs and drives well, I have just completed about $1,500 worth of work to bring it out of storage including a new fuel pump, rebuilt calipers, new master cylinder and one brake line. The fuel guage seems to have a loose connection which causes the fuel light to go on when the tank is full. The car has a race exhaust: Antara fom Italy as well as a Class 1 hitch, a new Converter. The AC works but need a charge since it has been sitting.

Why I am selling: I truly love this car but my wife hates it. We are both long time Alfa Romeo Enthusiasts with over 15 Alfas between us in the past 25 years. I bought this car after my only brother passed away in 2001 and for 2 years it was my main ride. Being a Front wheel drive car it has a completely different feel than the Spiders, the GTVs, the Berlina, the Sport Sedan, the Giulia Super, the AlfaSud Quadrifoglio, The Milano, Lancia Beta and the 3 Alfa 164s we have owned over the years. It was my sanctuary, the place to go and have fun when the tensions of family life were too much. It is a great car to drive, quick steering/handling, very fast off the line for a 1.7 Liter, incredibly economical (I was getting 30-42 MPG). Then in 2005 I was hit in the side by a driver with no insurance. Luckily I found a sympathetic Body Shop in West Warwick RI that was willing do do the work at cost, Tony at Euro Auto Body and his Italian born father did an incredible job. We sourced all original Alfa parts from England and Italy, original paint etc. The car looked brand new when I got it back.

Unfortunately the cost and attention I was giving to it was driving a very big wedge between my wife and myself. She had long traded her Spider Quadrifoglio, 1974 GTV coupe and her 140 mph Milano for a Honda Pilot. So when it was the main reason for tension between us I moved it to a warehouse and left it there for 4-5 years. This year I brought it back to my Alfa mechanic in maine and had him do what was need to get it back on the road but it now has to go. As long as it sits in my driveway, there will be tension between us.

Gray market imports are never easy to put a value on. This looks like a clean Alfa from the outside but the interior could certainly benefit from some tidying up. The Buy it Now price of $5,200 is a bit above what comparable examples are selling for in Europe. Outside of Alfisti I can't imagine these sedans having a huge following here. Even amongst fans of the marque, these 155s can sometimes be derided for their front-drive handling characteristics. I like the squared off lines and the fact that it was the basis for success in competition makes it all that more desirable.

1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Normale

Of all the Alfa Romeo Coupes, I've always preferred the Giulia 105/115 series coupes above the rest. But this car, a Giulietta Sprint Normale, has me looking at the Giulia's predecessor in a different light. For sale in California, this car looks absolutely amazing in green with Panasport wheels. Oftentimes larger wheels on a vintage car doesn't work too well but the stance here is perfect. It's hard to believe this design is almost 60 years old, because trimmed out in this manner, the look transcend decades.

Verde Muschio with Cognac interior, 1750 CC with 40 millimeter Webers, equipped with a five-speed gearbox, four wheel ATE disc brakes, Bilstein shocks, 15 inch Panasport wheels, 25 millimeter front sway bar and ATL fuel cell. A very attractive and nicely restored 101 series Sprint with rally style upgrades. $49,500.

At almost $50,000, this Giulietta Sprint is one of the most expensive that I've seen on the market. The last Giulietta Sprint we featured about a month ago was 1959 model for sale at a Ferrari/Maserati dealer. That car was listed just shy of $40,000. A good, restored example will usually bring somewhere between $35,000 and $40,000. While this car certainly presents well and has some desirable updates, I couldn't see paying over $45,000 for it.

1987 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde

As I was walking back to my apartment on Christmas Eve, I stumbled upon an Alfa Romeo Milano parked on the street, looking rather lonely in the freezing rain. It was a very mint example and had me thinking that maybe these cars weren't as troublesome as first thought if they are hanging around on urban streets. One of our readers had been in search of a good, clean Milano lately and as a result, these cars have been on my mind. Here is another Milano that has come up for sale outside of Washington, DC. This car needs a bit of love and attention, but is honest and complete.

1987 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde

1987 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde, Second owner, purchased car in 1995. This was a Daily Driver for nearly 17 years, until I purchase new Dodge Dart. Car was well maintained with many upgrades along the way.

Hereiare its issues.Engine and Transmission had been rebuilt approx 6 years ago, but need attention. Needs head gasket, still runs great, but evidence of oil getting into cooling system and oil leaking out of gasket onto exhaust manifold. Heads were replaced with IAP rebuilt units approx 8 years ago with S cams, but really, the engine is due for a complete overhaul. Gear lever rattles in 4th, 5th gear, probably not linkage. Clutch, while still has great grip, is getting a little stiff. Rear Wheel arches were replaced 10 years ago, and while being a very amatuer job, are still sound with no rust evident. Could use cosmetic attention on quarter panel where bondo is hiding the seams.The spare wheel well has some major rust issues that will need to be addressed. The tow hook is barely hanging on, but is still there ! The front driver jack point was bent by a tire shop, the others are fine. The car has never been in an accident, other than a Jag XJ6 backing into me while at a car lot. The mounting point to the bumper is slightly bent. Power steering hoses leak also.

Car comes with a set of Panasport Wheels, and 2 steel rims, and two factory mags, which can be seen in the pictures. It also comes with a spare front Bumper in awsome condition along with hoses and fittings for washer hoses. Entire Exhuast system replaced 2 years ago. Set of Koni Sport shocks all around, with Vented Rotors up front. Front Recaro grey inserts installed a few years back, see pictures. Personal brand steering wheel in awesome shape. Bottom Line, car could use a lot of work, but is a real Milano Verde. Has been a faithful daily driver for its entire life. Great Project Car, basis for a vintage racer, or keep feeding it money and is an awsome daily driver. Still a blast to drive! Price: $5,000 obo.

For the intrepid Alfa enthusiast, this would be a good buy, but the asking price of $5,000 is a bit dear for a car that needs this kind of mechanical and cosmetic work. As is, this car might be worth somewhere around $3,500 to $4,000. At that level, you could carry out the necessary fixes without making it too nice for daily use.

1994 Alfa Romeo Spider Commemorative Edition

The end of the 105/115 Series Alfa Romeo Spider came in 1994. This was a rather somber occasion, not just because it marked the end of a production run spanning four decades, but Alfa Romeo's exit from the US market would come one year later. For its final year, Alfa Romeo introduced the CE, or Commemorative Edition, of which only 190 were produced. Included in the package was a special badge on the nose, CE badging on the rear, gold center caps on the wheels and burl wood interior trim. These CE Spiders don't come up for sale all too often, so this one on offer in Florida represents an opportunity to get the Spider in its ultimate form.

This is an absolutely beautiful, Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce CE, Folio Green. The car is number 164 of 190 produced for 1994 the last year Alfa Spiders were imported into the usa. These special models have serialized dash plaques, gold wheel cap centers, wood shift knobs and wood door panels. The Commemorative Edition are becoming very collectable and almost impossible to find. Just think about this, there were thousands of spiders produced every year before 1994 but only 190 the final year. I believe this is the only CE advertised for sale in the entire USA.

The rear window and top are perfect, as is the tan top boot cover. All of the accessories work, including the air conditioning. Just under 57,000 miles. Books and manuals present. Drives absolutely perfect. No shakes, rattles or anything else out of the ordinary. Paint is exceptional Interior is as nice as the exterior. Tan leather and suede seats are near perfect. All of the gauges work as they should. No warning lights. Mechanically, the car is outstanding . It starts immediately warm or cold. Valve train is quiet with no excessive ticking. Oil pressure is good. No smoking whatsoever. The car revs freely and feels good as you row through the gears. which change easily with no grinding or hang ups in any gear. All 4 wheels are unmarred and the tires have 90% tread left. Car has the original Alfa Romeo radio.

The series 4 spiders (1991-1994) are the last and arguably the best produced. If you are looking for a truly special Alfa Spider look no further this is the car that will give its new owner much joy with stunning looks, fun to drive characteristics and will surely appreciate over time. Whether you are driving through winding roads or down to the beach motoring pleasure awaits you. I also have 2 low mileage 1991 spiders for sale a red/tan and silver/tan.

Prices for good, Series 4 Spiders seem to be creeping up slowly, and the CE will certainly be a favorite of many collectors for years to come. At almost $20,000, I think we are shooting for the moon here a bit. If this car had under 40,000 miles we might edge close to that figure, but as is, we're probably somewhere around $15,000 in terms of a realistic number to place on this car.

As time progresses, new cars appear more and more similar, losing a lot of their character that made them instantly recognizable years ago. When talking about character, few manufacturers have successfully expressed emotion through design more successfully than Alfa Romeo. One of their most celebrated designs is the 105/115 Series Spider, and this is where that car got its start, with the Duetto. Impossibly beautiful, this Duetto for sale in Seattle looks stunning in blue with the two tone black and tan interior.

1968 Alfa Romeo 1300 Junior Spider Duetto

The Alfa Romeo Spider (105/115 series) is a roadster produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo from 1966 to 1993. Widely regarded as a design classic, it remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The three first series were assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco and the fourth series in San Giorgio Canavese. The last Spider was produced in April 1993, it was also the last rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo produced before Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was introduced.

The Italian firm of Pininfarina was responsible for the design of the body; in fact, the Duetto was the last project with which founder Battista "Pinin" Farina was personally associated. Franco Martinengo was the Design Director at Pininfarina at that time. Pininfarina were also responsible for the manufacture of the vehicle's monocoque construction (designed with the relatively new principles of crumple zones incorporated into the front and rear).

A new Spider 1300 Junior, with a 1290 cc engine producing 89 hp (66 kW), was introduced in 1968. The Junior version had black-coloured lower front bumper Due to its round (or long) tail, the Series 1 Spider is sometimes known by the nickname of "Osso di Seppia" - Italian for "cuttlefish bone". This particular car was similar to the model featured in the 1967 movie The Graduate, driven by Ben(Dustin Hoffman), the character.

Our beautiful Duetto 1300 Junior has been restored with new deep blue paint, new black top and interior. The interior upholstery was wonderfully done with great fitment and all floor mats are fitted well. The rear trunk mat is in great shape as well as spare tire and jack. The car runs and drives beautifully. The brakes are solid and transmission shifts well. It has just been gone through by Italian car Master Jim Simpson. A few of the exterior trim pieces have a small ding and there are a couple of rock chips in the windshield, but failing that, this car is near concours as a driver quality car. Solid as a rock, the underside is as clean as the interior and paint. It drives as well as it looks. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer, more complete example of the hard to find Duetto.

Duettos of this caliber are typically bringing between $25,000 and $30,000 these days. If this one could be had for under $30,000, it would be well bought.

1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV

The 105/115 series GTV coupe is one of Alfa Romeo's high points. Timeless Bertone styling along with a lively chassis and engine cemented this car's status with collectors and enthusiasts. By the time the mid seventies rolled around, the GTV was on its last legs with the introduction of the 2000 GTV. This GTV for sale in New York is a two owner original example of this model at its zenith.

1974 Alfa Romeo GTV. Two Owners, 41,000 Original Miles, Original Colors, Original Interior, Excellent Example. This beautiful '74 GTV is Amaranth Red (an Aubergine color) over a Light Tan interior, the original colors. The car is believed to have had only two owners and just a single repaint. It was a dry southern car that does not exhibit any of the typical rust or ugly patching we so often find on Alfas of this era (or Alfas of any era, really). The car retains what appears to be its original interior, which is in great condition. It is currently showing 41,000 miles, which we also believe to be original. The car also retains its original SPICA injection system and runs and drives very well. It is equipped with four brand new Alloy GTA style wheels on Pirellis. This is an excellent unmolested, honest and original GTV that represents a very high fun to dollar ratio.

Given the condition and provenance of this car, the reserve is probably lying somewhere in the $25,000 to $35,000 range, as is the norm with these late model GTVs as of late. These are fantastic practical classics and I must say hats off to the two previous owners, as this car has been given the love and care it deserves.

1995 Alfa Romeo 164Q

California is a state known for its car culture. No matter your fancy, it's a great place to go looking for classic and modern cars on the used market. Just last week, we featured a low mileage Alfa Romeo 164LS for sale in Pleasanton. Today, here is the sportier Q version of the 164, a clean, one owner example for sale in Pleasant Hill that is allegedly one of the last of its kind to be sold here in the US.

The 164LS we featured last week sold for $9,999. This 164Q has almost the same mileage with a price about $2,000 more. Whether or not you favor the sportier Q over the luxury LS version is a matter of taste. Both this car and the LS have 5-speed manual transmission, which is important for enthusiasts. I prefer the Q. With a little bit of negotiation room, I'd say this car is priced right for someone looking to savor one of Alfa's last forays into mainstream US sales.

1972 Alfa Romeo Montreal

With its racing derived, fuel-injected V8 and unorthodox Bertone styling, the Montreal made a splash in the market in the early 1970s. This car was Alfa Romeo's effort at building a high end sports coupe in the mold of the company's offerings before the start of World War II. You don't see many of Montreals on the road in the US and those that are available are highly prized by a dedicated group of enthusiasts. This Montreal for sale in California is a solid runner which was repainted to red from its original golden hue.

This Montreal was imported in the '80's and has been in California since then. It was owned by a prominent doctor here in Santa Barbara, then it was sold to a well-known Alfa collector/hoarder. I bought it from his estate, along with several other Alfas. Most of the other cars were offered here on the AlfaBB and have already been sold. The Montreal was by far the best car of the collection, and I decided to hold off on selling it until the others were gone. Since there was such a good response on the others, I wanted to offer the Montreal here first before posting it on ebay.

The car has just been serviced. It runs strong and sounds incredible! The car shows approximately 66k kilometers, and this is backed up by the receipts on file. Nice wood wheel, gauges, switches, headliner, 2-tone door panels, etc. The rear seat is excellent, and the fronts have had the original black vinyl replaced by cloth inserts. Clean & original engine compartment. I would consider this a nice looking "driver quality" car. The paint is old and is a color change from the original gold. Minor bubbles and blemishes in the paint, but it still shines and impresses most casual viewers. I see price ranges on these of: $15k-20k for total projects that are not running, and $50k-plus for restored cars. This one falls in between these ranges in condition and value, and I have priced it at $29,500.

Are Montreals poised to jump in price like the SS's and other Giuliettas have done recently? They certainly have a lot going for them (quad cam V8, sexy coachbuilt body by Bertone, limited production, and very few cars available in the US). It doesn't really make sense that these can be had for the same price as a nice GTV. I love GTV's, but Montreals are a heck of a lot more rare & exotic! If I had more space, I would probably be tempted to hang on to it and see what happens with the market. But I have more cars than space, and need to free up some cash for ongoing restorations on my other toys. The car is located in Santa Barbara, and I would be happy to show it to anyone with serious interest.

The sellers price is about on par with what one can expect to pay for a decent runner, if not concours quality Montreal these days. The SPICA fuel injection system is tricky to get in tune, so a thorough examination of that should be carried out to make sure disaster doesn't lie ahead. Otherwise, for the person that wants a usable Montreal and not a garage queen, this car would be a good choice.

1987 Alfa Romeo Milano Gold

We had a reader request recently to search out a few Alfa Romeo Milanos. To start off the week, I thought we would continue on our cheap thrills theme from the weekend and feature this Milano Gold 2.5 for sale in British Columbia.

Sadly, not much information is offered by this seller, other than the car has a little over 100,000 miles. Also, as a 2.5 liter car, this would not be the Verde model, which had a 3.0 liter engine. This isn't the best example of a Milano that I've seen, but given a little negotiating room, this could be a good buy for someone handy with a wrench, as cosmetically, the car appears straight.

1986 Alfa Romeo GTV6

Following on to the Alfa Romeo GTV6 we featured last Wednesday, here is another GTV6 that is one year newer for sale in my backyard right outside of Washington, DC. Owned by an Alfa enthusiast, this is a very straight, original example for someone seeking affordable Alfa thrills.

1986 GTV6, 99,460 miles, $6,800. California car, very good condition. Completely stock except for the Blaupunkt radio/CD. Well maintained, up to date service, can be driven anywhere. 2 owner car. Drives great, everything works, no damage or rust, except where noted (please see pics also/follow link!);
-small dent on driver's side, below rear window (pic),
-minor surface rust in engine compartment below brake cylinder,
-minor surface rust spot on window trim metal,
-steering wheel leather is dried out (perfectly useable of course),
-some leather stitching on seats coming undone.

Recent work (within last 5k miles;
-rebuilt steering rack,
-castor bushings all around,
-new rear engine mount,
-timing belt replacement,
-new front brake lines,
-new driver's tie rod.
-complete exhaust including cat and o2 sensor. Stock type.
-new rear brake pads and disks.

Noteworthy details about this special car; all lights work (see pics), all gauges work, clock works, sunroof works perfectly and smooth, NO 2nd gear crunch during shifting, A/C needs recharged, car was re-sprayed by original owner (in very good condition), wheel wells/arches are rust free.

This is an opportunity to purchase a very clean, straight late model GTV6... not modified or personalized in anyway. But, it is not a perfect car, as I have described some of it's imperfections. There are no nasty surprises or money-pit scenarios. Any issues can be resolved over the course of a few weekends and you can have a nearly-new quality car. The surface rust can be treated with POR 15 or similar (see pics). I want this GTV6 to go to a good home! Someone who will maintain its integrity and take care of it, the way the factory intended.

I recommend this go to someone who is familiar with GTV6's, or someone with access to a good Alfa tech. Now that we have our new born we are looking to move and I won't have space for this car. My Buy It Now price reflects the issues that this car has, so please don't make me low offers because this car needs some work. It's perfectly enjoyable as it stands, and quite frankly if it was perfect I would be selling it for more. The car is located in the DC/N.Virginia area. I welcome you to test drive before bidding.

The price of this GTV6 matches the last one we featured at $6,500. This seems to be right smack dab in the middle of the range when it comes to well cared for, if not perfect, drivers. Mint examples start creeping more towards the $10,000 mark. This car seems to be a solid example with but a few issues to sort. For the enthusiast on a budget, it doesn't get much better than this.
