The Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV is an Italian performance bargain. These rear drive coupes started life in the 1970s powered by twin cam, four cylinder engines and wound up closing out the production run in the 1980s with V6 power to rival the best sports coupes in their segment. The Balocco edition was a limited edition trim and graphics package for 1982 only, taking its name from the famous test track in Italy. This particular car for sale in the Boston area was originally a west coast car that is complete but could benefit from a little TLC.

111,000 original miles. Originally a west coast car, this vehicle has never been outside in the winter. It was a daily driver until moved east three years ago and has been garaged since then. Registered in Massachusetts and insured--it still gets out for the occasional drive. A proper tune up, including new plug wires, and some brake work would make this car a dream to drive again.

Paint is faded. Black polyvinyl parts are now greyish. But very limited and superficial surface rust . . . a tiny bit above the rear bumper cover and along the top edge of the boot, a tiny bit of rust below the windscreen gasket, and some significant rust through at the boot latch on the hatch. (Spare replacement hatch included in sale).

Too many “news” to list here: car was well maintained and, again, a daily driver until relatively recently. Timing belt and tensioner were changed at 84,000 miles. Exhaust system is new. Injectors were recently cleaned. Still sitting on nearly new Toyo tires. I have all records from my time as steward. I will also throw in my Car Disk with images of all of the original manuals--both operator, and shop.

Minor trim flaws include broken interior door handles, but I have found replacements and they are included. Dash has four cracks. Leather was repaired once, but the heat of the summer here in the east has led to some stitching failure. The once beautiful red carpeting is a dark pink in places. I am partial, but I believe the Balocco trim package to be one of the prettiest things Alfa has ever done: Black leather with red and black striped welting, teakwood headrest supports, red carpeting.

The electrical system seems free of ghosts, but the windshield wipers aren’t working at the moment, it could just be a relay or fuse. Water temperature gauge is not functioning, but the thermostat is good and the cooling fans run correctly. Tach is not completely accurate. If you know these cars, you know better than to ask about the air conditioning!

Not very pertinent to the true Alfisti, but the car has a great four speaker Rockport Fosgate CD player installed in an aesthetically appropriate manner. I have grown to prefer the sound of the engine! This car is perfectly positioned for restoration, which has been a dream of mine for many years. But I’m going back to school in the fall, and three years in the garage have not been kind to it (the heat-dried upholstery). The three additional years it will have to sit while I complete my graduate degree will do it no good at all.

Good GTVs of this vintage will run you somewhere between $6,000 and $12,000. The limited edition doesn’t add a whole lot to the value, and given the state of this car, I’d suspect it will fetch somewhere between $4,000 and $5,000.

1969 Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto

We've featured a lot of Series 4 Alfa Romeo Spiders over the past few months. I've always been a fan of how those cars combine classic looks with modern practicality. For those who want something a bit more vintage, might I suggest my other favorite Spider, the Duetto. This is where the 105/115 series story began and consequently, these are often valued higher than any other Spiders in this series. This Duetto for sale in New York certainly catches your eye with its Pine Green paintwork and Cromodora alloys.

1969 Alfa Romeo Spider finished in Verde Pino (Pine Green) with Black interior. Fitted with it's original 1750 twin overhead cam engine and upgraded with twin Weber carburetors, this Pininfarina designed Alfa is one of the most affordable timeless classics on the market. Other Alfa models have already reached the stratosphere and the Boat Tail design, available for only a few years will surely follow. This beautiful five speed example is rust free and comes with five spoke Cromodora alloy wheels, four wheel disc brakes, fresh Pirelli tires, wood steering wheel and more. The we featured last week had a Buy It Now price of $20,000. That car had about 20,000 less miles on the clock and was in a little bit better shape. For the shrinking violet, the Verde Inglese paintwork might be a little more desirable, but at the current asking price, this car is priced a little bit high. Typically, anywhere between $13,000 to $16,000 is what a Spider Veloce of this vintage will bring.

Over the past decade, the Duetto has steadily increased in value, approaching territory normally reserved for its forebear, the Giulietta Spider. I'd suspect the reserve on this car is somewhere in the low $30k range, with the seller hoping to get around $35,000. Anything approaching $40,000 these days is reserved for the truly exceptional, concours quality Duettos.

The Alfa Romeo Milano has been steadily gaining notoriety as one of those classic Italian cars that can offer a lot of motoring thrills for not much money. A favorite with our readers here at CICFS, I've tried to feature as many good examples of this sports sedan I can find. Today's Milano is another four door Alfa residing in Washington and comes from an owner with a familiarity of the marque.

Excellent 1988 Milano Verde for sale. I purchased this car 8 years ago from Roberto P from Ferrari of Seattle. This was his personal car for the previous 5 or so years. He owned it since it had 50,000 miles and had it braugt up from California in early 2000. I have always had the car garaged in all 8 years that I have owned the vehicle and was always serviced by FOS as needed. I have been around Alfa Romeo's since I was a child and have had several Alfa cars restored and have always had the passion for these Italian dream cars. I am having to part with this car as I am trying to make room for another vehicle in my garage.

The pictures should show it all on how immaculate the car has been taken care of. I treat this like one of my babies along with my other cars. I get more thumbs ups and second looks at this car over any of my other sports cars.

The last Milano we featured here got a lot of attention but was priced a bit lower than this car, at $11,000. This car has a bit lower mileage but the Milano featured last week was just as nice. While this has some nice upgrades and is well documented, we're probably a little bit on the high side in terms of value on this one. Still, the Milano is an Italian sedan that is well loved and good ones are becoming harder to come by. For the right buyer, this car very well may be considered a bargain.

1992 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

British racing green was a color you could always find on classic roadsters like the MG, Triumph and Jaguar XKE. Across the continent, it was more common to find Italian sports cars painted in bright red. So it's interesting, then, that the hue of Verde Inglese, or English Green, looks so good on the Series 4 Alfa Romeo Spider. This Spider Veloce for sale in Rhode Island has traveled under 50,000 miles, has a new convertible top and has had a decent amount of maintenance items addressed as of late.

1992 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce finished in Verde Inglese (English green) with tan interior. This Spider has only 49,769 original miles. The car runs smoothly through all of the gears, with no second gear crunch. The motor sounds great and revs smoothly. The Series 4 Spiders (1991 - 1994) have the desirable Bosch Motronic electronic fuel injection. This classic Pininfarina styled Spider has stunning good looks and offers matching driving pleasure. The 2.0 L4 cylinder loves to rev all the way to its 7000 RPM limit and gets 28 miles per gallon. The Alfa has a Sony CD player and xplode speakers.

The following has just been completed:

A new black soft top was installed
The tan suede/leather upholstery on both seats was replaced with new tan, all leather upholstery
New front and rear brakes were installed
A new middle and rear exhaust was installed
A new oil pan gasket was installed
Both interior door panels were reinforced with new door clips
The interior was fully detailed
The exterior was fully detailed, buffed and glazed

Another week, another Series 4 Spider on CICFS. I honestly can never get enough of these roadsters. No one will miss you coming down the street in this yellow 1993 Spider Veloce. Having covered only 30,000 miles, it appears almost like new and is sure to its new owner a lot of smiles per miles.

This is the last year for the Alfa Romeo spider, the 1993 model. The last iteration is considered to be the best and I agree. I have owned several over the years and I just took this on a run over the weekend and it was an absolute joy to drive1 They are a blast. There is no need to have a more complicated car to derive more pleasure. Alfa figured out decades ago how to extract the maximum amount of driving pleasure from their cars and nobody does it better. I have 12 cylinders cars and they are not more fun- louder yes but they do not bring a bigger smile to my face while driving. Sadly, the Veloce's must go to fund my other Alfa project but knowing they will be enjoyed is a good thing.

This car is in very good condition with no needs and can be driven anywhere. Just turn the key, drop the top and go! I am happy to answer any questions. From the body, paint, perfect wheels,you would be very hard pressed to find a better example.

The seller describes this Spider as the last model year. Technically, they are correct, as there were no Spiders built in 1994, but there were Spiders sold as 1994 models under the Commemorative Editon, or CE badge. Clean, low mileage Spiders and Spider Veloces can be had for around $13,000 to $15,000. At a Buy It Now price of $20,000, this puts it right up there with the best of the best, but everything from the interior to the engine bay on this one looks showroom fresh. This is certainly one of the better Series 4 Spiders we've seen here at CICFS.

1986 Alfa Romeo GTV6

Following on to Tim Allen's GTV 1750, this was the car that replaced that coupe. Almost three decades have passed, and the Alfetta based GTV6 has become a legend in its own right. They are known for offering V6, rear-drive thrills in exchange for not a lot of cash. This late model GTV6 for sale outside of Washington, DC has undergone a bare metal respray and restoration and only has 59,000 miles on the clock.

Never thought I'd be selling this car but life happened and I never got to use it as much as I wanted. I have owned this GTV6 for 2 years, the previous owner did a bare metal restoration and the car is rust free. The front air dam and bumper tops are new. The car starts up first try everytime. When I got it, the rear brake line was leaking, I redid the rear brakes including reman calipers. Transmission shifts smoothly once warmed up. Clutch take up is clean and smooth. The car runs tight and handles well and is about as strong as a stock V6 that I have ever driven. It does have the rear sport springs. No smoke from the exhaust at all. I changed the brake fluid, antifreeze when i got it and replaced oil every 6 months.

Asking $8,200 or best offer. I am somewhat flexible to a good home but please realize that this is not your average beater. It is truly worth it. It will need the drivers seat bolster repair though. Other extras - Carello headlights, extra set of wineglass wheels and misc gaskets. Even the AC works!!

The car has 59k. All maint is up to date. The TB and WP were redone by the previous owner and are in good shape. I'm pretty sure it still has the hydraulic tensioner. I am located in Manassas VA, approx 30 Miles south of DC, and 10 mins from Rt 95 south. The car was in exactly this condition when I bought it. The only work I have done is to replace fluids and rear brake lines/calipers. As far as additional info goes, all the electrics work except the mirrors, I can hear the motors run but the mirrors do not move. There are no rust bubbles at all in the paint. There is some surface rust on the underside of the body, nothing that is unusual at all. The sills and arches were repaired and replaced.

Your typical GTV6 in good nick will range somewhere between $7,000 to $12,000 range. I would say this one is priced rather realistically given the condition and work done; it's always a plus when a seller is willing to be flexible to a point. While they may not have the style and grace of their predecessors, the 105/115 series Giulia GTVs, these cars do offer lusty V6 power and a well-balanced chassis. For those on a classic car budget, it's hard to ignore everything the GTV6 has to offer.

Whenever I see a "celebrity car" advertised, it really doesn't do much to grab my attention. A lot of the folks in Hollywood aren't true car collectors; rather, it's all about badge and image when it comes to transportation. But, there are some noted car collectors in the world of television and film, such as Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld and the guy who owned this 1971 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750, Tim Allen.

To be honest, I wouldn't have normally associated Tim Allen with a GTV 1750, as he's known for his love of Detroit iron. But his petrolhead credibility has just gone up a few notches in my book with this car. These coupes are revered for their excellent handling and tidy good looks. For sale in Hollywood, California, this frame off restored GTV is certainly a car that you could consider well sorted.

This collector Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 is currently owned by celebrity, comedian and car connoisseur, Tim Allen. Known for his Blockbuster Movies and hit television shows “Home Improvement” and “Last Man Standing!" This car has resided in his collection for the last 7 years! He has finally decided to sell this Alfa GTV, to complete someone else’s collection.

Here is a chance to own a frame off restored vehicle with a celebrity provenance. This GTV only has 3000 miles since its restoration. When Tim bought this car seven years ago, this is what was done:

“Complete restoration done by an Engineer who started with an all original and never molested original car. Every suspension bushing, joint, bearing throughout the entire car was replaced. All components cleaned and painted or powder coated prior to reassembly. All new suspension is all adjustable, centerline springs, etc. Undercarriage is rust free and was cleaned and re-undercoated. All new rubber and seals, new window felts and channels. new speckled grey carpet kit, original dash without cracks, original wood, new speedo and tach cables, entirely new european taillight assemblies, original spare with jack, AR501 red paint, new period Daytonas and Yoko 205’s, original AM/FM push button radio that works.

Original 1750 that was rebuilt with Steve Hanniford head work (stage 5 includes intake manifold port machining), assembled with all new components (valves, HP Springs, followers, retainers, reliefs, Ingram HP FI pump (165-170hp), new fuel pump, throttle bodies rebuilt, new exhaust OEM with hangers, original exhaust manifolds ceramic coated, all SS hardware for reassembly, all recip components carefully hand balanced to 0.1 gram static, revs willingly to 7000 where the cams peak), flywheel machined to 15lbs (more to relieve stress risers in casting then weight), new pistons/liners (hastings rings, effective CR 10:1, stk 9.75 plus 10 mils off the head for a quarter point), flowed oil pump (meaning the oil pump intake was carefully shaped), all new chains, Ingram prepped 1750 rods (relieved, peened, bushed, new bolts and big nuts), all engine work done at Wes Ingram’s shop, compression delta P across all cylinders is 1 pound! recurved electronic Bosch with MSD multi-spark, entire cooling system with custom 3 row core adapted to original tanks, thermostatically controlled fan. Trans, driveline and rear-end inspected and rebuilt, new windshield (all other glass original).”

Engine/Transmission: Strong running 1750 that shifts easily
Tires: Yokohama 205’s with excellent tread
A very nicely restored Alfa 1750 GTV that has been well cared for and is ready to show, cruise or add to your car collection.
I wouldn’t fault this car with its celebrity pedigree and restoration work.
Winning bidder has the option of having Tim Allen sign the car and a picture of Tim with the car.
A great investment car!

GTVs of this vintage that are restored or well-kept originals have always brought strong money. A good, driver quality vehicle in decent nick will probably hover somewhere around the $25,000 to $27,000 mark, but given the level of detail on this car, I'd suspect it will probably fetch somewhere around $35,000. For someone who is into these cars, the celebrity status is just a bit of icing on the cake. I do find it interesting, however, that in the world of showbusiness, comedians tend to have the best taste in cars.

The Series 4 Alfa Romeo Spider of 1991 to 1994 is one of the most popular cars we've featured here on CICFS, mainly because there's plenty of them out there to choose from. This Spider for sale in Florida is in a lesser seen white hue, but is in stunning condition having covered less than 30,000 miles. With warmer weather around the corner, now is a great time to jump on one of these classic roadsters.

1991 Alfa Romeo Spider. This is an agent assisted sale by a private seller. I've been hired by the seller to find a new owner for this Spider. I will present any reasonable offers to the seller and get you a quick response.

Details:

-White exterior, factory color name Bianco Freddo, factory color code 230
-Tan Interior

-Two previous owners, the current owner purchased it from the original owner in January 2001
-Clean Carfax, the car has never been in an accident or mishap or any kind
$1,400 worth of work completed last week by the local Ferrari/Alfa master technician who worked at the Ferrari factory as a young boy under the directorship of Enzo. The work was done to put the car in absolute tip top shape.
-Set of books with the factory pouch
-Factory Alfa tire gauge in its place inside the owner's manual pouch.
-Tires are in excellent condition
-Wheels are in excellent condition, no curb rash
-The convertible top is like new inside and out, the eisenglass plastic windows are absolutely scratch free and no creases

-Power windows go up and down perfect, no noises, no slowness, perfect
-Factory tools in the Alfa Romeo factory lavender purple pouch. The screw drive and spark plug socket are still wrapped in the original foam protector. No usual surface rust on the tools
-The tire jack is in place and in perfect condition
-The carpet in the trunk is perfect and the glue has not released (holding up the carpets on the sides)

Driving impression:

The car is a joy to drive. It starts right up without hesitation or extra noises. The engine is strong and well tuned. The suspension is solid and there is no play in the steering wheel. It shifts with ease as you would expect from a 27,000 mile Alfa. The whole car is a super wow. The seller is getting up in age and simply doesn't have the time to enjoy the car and is having trouble getting in and out of it. Hence the sale.

In my opinion, this Spider could win Platinum at a concours. I've been a concours judge of Ferraris for many years and know a Platinum winner when I see one. I would deduct 3 points for the engine bay, albeit all it would take is some elbow grease to pull up the points. I would also deduct 2 points for the aftermarket radio, but that can be remedied by buying one off eBay and installing it. It's an amazing car that I'm sure will fall into the hands of a collector.

Most Series 4 Spiders that we've seen here on CICFS tend to range between $12,000 to $15,000. A Spider, especially a non-Veloce, closing in on $20,000 is a bit hard to stomach given where the market is for these vehicles. But, when you consider the amount of style and driving pleasure these cars offer and what $18,000 buys you when it comes to a new car, this car could be a bargain to someone.

1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider

We featured an Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider here at CICFS last month. These are a bit of a dark horse in the history of classic Italian roadsters, but nevertheless important in the genesis of Alfa Romeo. The 2600 series was the last Alfa Romeo to be fitted with a twin cam, inline six cylinder engine. This 2600 Spider for sale in Nevada is not a concours example, but looks ready to be enjoyed.

For Sale: 1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 Touring Spider (VIN #AR192973). The 2600 Touring Spider is a beautiful and rare automobile. Only 2,255 were manufactured during its four year production run from 1962-66. There are far fewer on the road today. It’s a roomy, comfortable sports car that’s solid, elegant, and smooth on the road.

The car features a 2,582cc in-line six cylinder dual overhead cam engine that delivers 165 horsepower at 5,900 rpm. It has less than 1,500 miles on a rebuilt engine. Engine is running rich and a bit rough. Valves and Solex carbs will probably need adjustment. Transmission shifts smoothly. Body is straight and in good shape. Very nice paint, though not perfect. The most noticeable blemishes can be seen in photo of left rear taillight (in corner where trunk meets body), and the two close-ups of paint by rear bumper. Interior in good condition. Gauges work and appear to be accurate. Five 165R400 Michelin X tires purchased from Coker Tires have less than 1,000 miles on them. This vehicle has been kept in an insulated garage, and hasn’t been driven in the rain or snow since I’ve owned it (2007 – present).

Those who are familiar with this model will notice that it’s missing the Touring badges, the large rear chrome license plate holder, and the chrome trim “spears” that run between the wheel wells on each side below the doors. I have the Touring badges and the license plate holder (see photos), but they will need to be installed by the buyer. I do not have the chrome side “spears”, but I know of a supplier that carries them. Also included are original owner’s manuals, a CD that includes owner, service, and parts manuals, and a variety of spare parts. Have service records for past six years, along with service records from previous owner.

As we noted with the 2600 Spider from last month, Hagerty is listing values for these roadsters anywhere from about $20,000 to $60,000. This car isn't the most perfect example, but is certainly presentable. As such, it will probably fetch somewhere between $45,000 to $50,000.

It's no secret that the Italians make some of the most beautiful vehicles on the planet. But the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale has to be one of their masterpieces. Just look at this car. Inspired by the B.A.T. aerodynamic studies of Bertone, these special Giuliettas were coach built for buyers seeking to press something into competition. While slippery dynamics helped top speed, its weight held it back a bit. Now these Alfas are revered and valued accordingly. This Sprint Speciale for sale in Florida looks stunning in dark blue over red leather.

I've seen simple, non-descriptive ads, but this one takes the cake. For such an exceptional car, I would have hoped for a little more color. But no matter, I'll just sit back and enjoy looking at the pictures of this car. Sprint Speciales these days can bring anywhere from $150,000 to $200,000, so the asking price is about spot on for what we are dealing with. One thing is certain, whoever buys this car will be a star at the next local car show.
