In the effort to reduce mass, traditional steel body panels are swapped out for aluminum outer body panels, which are then bonded and riveted to the inner steel panels. Windows are made from plastic, and the interior benefits from lighter trim. Under the hood, the aluminum power plant is fitted with magnesium alloy in the cam cover, timing cover, and transmission bell housing.
