2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti 6-speed manual

Large Ferraris remind me of French luxury cars. Often misunderstood, somewhat rare outside their home market and more often than not passed over for their smaller stable mates. Such is the case with the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, a lesser known model in recent Ferrari history but rather significant, as this would be one of the last front-engined, V12 Ferraris available with a true 6-speed manual gearbox. It was also the second all-aluminum Ferrari behind the 360 Modena. This 612 for sale in Missouri is one of about 10% of 3,025 612 Scaglietti's equipped with the 6-speed manual, looking resplendent in Tour de France Blue.

Ferrari's 2005 612 Scaglietti
Jumbo Grand Touring Family Flagship!
One of only the very few "real Ferrari" gated 6-speed manuals ever produced in this model!
Finished in "unreal" Tour de France Blue with Cuoio Power Daytona leather seats and headliner!
Just turned 20k actual fully serviced miles!
VIN #ZFFAA54A150138852

The largest Ferrari to ever shade the pavement, was designed to be a car capable of blistering Ferrari performance while seating 4 adults! Over 2.8 inches more headroom than its forebear 456 and at the same time 25% more luggage space making this a true "family" Ferrari!

Wow! Powered by a DOHC 5.7 liter, 533 horsepower V-12, the 612 "Scag" becomes the first 12 cylinder Ferrari to use aluminum space frame and body! No Ferrari has ever been so comfortable and easy going! The supple-riding 612 feels soft and pliable, yet controllable at any speed. But at the same time very quick while tapping on the V-12's performance peddle. This Ferrari really goes!

The interior is very roomy while the dashboard is simple but tastefully and beautifully finished, mostly in a variety of leathers. A prominent alloy band separates the dark upper dash from the lighter lower area while incorporating large circulator air vents. The instruments are an incongruous mix of analog and digital displays. The seats are firm, supportive and power adjustable as is the steering wheel. This is a very powerful 4-seat "GT" supercar!

Factory equipped with the very unheard of "Gated 6-speed manual," heated power Daytona seats, Scuderia shields, Rosso Corsa calipers, "HTGS sport package suspension," modular wheels, parking sensors! Wow, what a machine that you can drive everyday and take your kids along as well! Just serviced and inspected including the major belt service completed on 8/15/2014 at 20,382 miles, original keys (2), books, tools in original plastic bags, tire repair kit and excellent service records!

Absolutely pristine example and the one you have been waiting for! This is like going to your Ferrari dealer and finding a new 612 Scaglietti they forgot they had! Once in a lifetime opportunity here with the 6-speed and a color combo that is off the charts! It just doesn't get any better than this. Would love to add you to our 40 year satisfied customer base and will make everything easy and painless with a money back guarantee in writing if not as represented and no one but "Wilhoit" does this. Money isn't worth anything if you don't invest in something you really want!

I was talking with Andy over at flüssig magazine, as his father is a 612 Scaglietti owner. He frequents the FerrariChat forum and has noted an increase in demand for 612 Scagliettis and 599GTBs with 6-speed manual gearboxes, as Ferrari has ceased making any more cars with three pedals as of 2012. It should be noted that several hundred 612 Scagliettis were recalled in the US market due to a clutch sensor malfunction, so even if they are more efficient and quicker, you still have a bit more reliability with the old foot operated clutch. A small bit of comfort, then, for traditionalists like myself.

2005 Maserati MC12

When Maserati began its renaissance with the 3200GT, few expected that in just a few years the marque would have a supercar in its lineup. But that’s exactly what happened. This would be the first non front-engine Maserati since the death of the Bora almost three decades prior. Based on Ferrari Enzo mechanicals, the MC12 was a bit more compromising, having no rear window, along with being wider and heavier than the car on which it was based. It was still a tool for those serious track day enthusiasts, painted in the classic blue and white livery seen on Maseratis of yore. This MC12 for sale in California is one of but a few that made it stateside.

Cars like these always suffer at the hands of speculators when they are relatively new. A few years have passed since the last MC12s rolled off the assembly line. At $1.6 million, this is a car for serious collectors with deep pockets. However, at this price, there are much more well rounded, faster machines. The Bugatti Veyron comes to mind, as well as some lesser exotics like the new McLaren MC4-12C, Pagani Huayra and the Lamborghini Aventador. If you must have the sole Masserati supercar from the modern era, you don’t have much choice. It's wild to look at and drive, a car that is more suited to the track than street.

2005 Maserati Quattroporte

The land of the affordable Maserati Quattroporte is getting bigger by the minute, and from the looks of this example for sale in Missouri, you might just be able to snag one from under $30,000 in good nick. The question still remains, though, will buying a high performance Italian super saloon be a pleasure, or break you?

2005 Maserati Quattroporte 4dr sedan loaded with 4.2L V8 DOHC 32V engine, F1 shiftable automatic transmission, leather seats, power front seats, driver seat memory, massaging front seats, cooled front seats, heated (4) seats, front and rear Parktronic assist, wood steering wheel, wood interior trim, leather steering wheel trim, paddle shifters, cruise control, steering wheel audio controls, AM/FM/CD Audio, Bose sound system, navigation system, multi-zone climate control, power rear sunshade, power windows, power door locks, power exterior mirrors, power glass moonroof, 19" alloy wheels and four brand new tires. The car has 43,000 highway miles.

The big question with this car is whether the clutch has been replaced recently. If it has been, this Quattroporte could be a potential bargain. If it hasn't, then figure you've got a repair that might take you a shade over $30,000 in terms of vehicle cost. With these Italian super sedans now trading hands under the $30,000 mark, it is so tempting not to pull the trigger and enjoy a taste of the good life.

2005 Maserati Coupe GT

The Maserati Coupe GT has turned out to be one of the used car bargains of the last decade. What was originally a car costing over $80,000 has now come down to a range where you can find second hand BMW 3 series and Mercedes-Benz C classes. While maintenance can sometimes be an issue, most of the problems boil down to the Cambiocorsa gearbox, which require frequent clutch replacements. Luckily, you can have a Coupe GT with a 6-speed manual and avert many of those issues. This red Coupe GT for sale in San Francisco is just one of those 6-speed coupes, having covered just shy of 25,000 miles.

2005 Maserati Coupe GT

An Executive Q-ship! Very unique 6 speed MANUAL Maserati Coupe GT in stunning red with a black interior and just 25,000 miles from new! The Skyhook suspension has been thoughtfully modified with lowering springs, and the car has a full (beautiful-sounding) Larini exhaust (stock exhaust included), and a Performance Dynamics Throttle Response module. With desirable options like the Auditorium 200 audio system, aluminium pedals, red contrasting stitching, navigation, factory fire extinguisher, and factory floor mats , this exquisite Italian beauty offers Ferrari-lelvel performance and looks at a Maserati price. This car has just been serviced and had brand new tires installed - it is ready to be driven and enjoyed!

The asking price is a little high for a Coupe GT 6-speed, but given this is a dealer it isn't too surprising. Over time, these cars will no doubt require a bit more care, attention and money than a similar German or American sports car, but for the entry price much less than a Ferrari, I view these as a great buy and certainly one that might appreciate over years to come.

2005 Maserati Quattroporte

If you've got roughly $35,000 to spend for a luxury sedan, many options await. If you're looking for a new car, BMW just redesigned their 3 series, Cadillac has a new small sedan, the ATS and there's the good old standby, the Mercedes-Benz C class. If you are boring, you can buy a Lexus ES350. But if you want to get something that's bespoke and will have people talking at the country club, you can stretch your dollars more in the used market and buy this: a Maserati Quattroporte. With its Ferrari 4.2 liter V8 engine, no one will miss hearing you when you arrive while you are ensconced in the comfort of the finest Italian leather. This Quattroporte for sale in Texas has a done a little over 30,000 miles and is the perfect accessory if you want to play the role of mafia hit man.

This is a well maintained and serviced vehicle. It is part of a 3-car collection we are selling for a client of ours.

I love the Quattroporte. One of my good friends bought one earlier this year and enjoys it thoroughly. It has just made me want one even more. While $32,500 seems like good value for this caliber of vehicle, keep in mind the clutch replacements for the automated manual gearbox come more often than on a regular transmission and will cost you several thousands of dollars. Even still, for me, it would be worth it knowing first hand what a aural and tactile sensation this car is to drive.

2005 Maserati Quattroporte Neiman Marcus Edition

With the holidays upon us and gift giving on everyones' minds, it's a perfect time to take a look at a trinket from one of the most storied holiday catalogs: the Christmas Book from Neiman Marcus. Every year, this boutique's holiday catalog offers "Fantasy Gifts" geared for multi-millionaires looking for posh, out of the ordinary gifts. For the 2004 Christmas Book, Neiman Marcus offered a special edition Maserati Quattroporte. A total of 60 cars were built and included in the package were the Bordeaux Pontevecchio paintwork complemented by Ivory Poltrona Frau leather with Bordeaux piping. Chrome meshing on the front grille and side vents along with 19" ball finished alloy wheels finished off the package, along with a specially numbered plaque on the dashboard. This special edition Quattroporte for sale in Florida was the 18th example built.

Florida's Premier Maserati Dealer Has Just Traded In This Stunning 2005 Maserati Quattroporte! #18 of 60 Worldwide - Neiman Marcus Edition. Finished In Bordeaux Pontevecchio with Campionario Leather Interior. This Naples, FL Automobile Features:

Premium Audio System with CD Changer
Silver Color Brake Calipers
Alcantara Headlining
Drilled Leather Power Heated Seats with Memory Feature
Rear Park Assistance Sensor
Power Sunroof
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
19" Ball Polished Wheels

Prices of early fifth generation Quattroportes have come down to levels where less well heeled enthusiasts can afford them, but as usual, maintenance costs are still a concern. Clutch replacements for the DuoSelect gearbox can be pricey, but depending on the way you drive, you can get upwards of 30,000 miles on a clutch. For those seeking a bit more reliability, Maserati began offering a ZF automatic in the 2007 model year. However, the fully automatic cars can be a bit more expensive. For a 2005 Quattroporte with over 30,000 miles, the asking price is a bit on the high side. A value somewhere between $35,000 and $40,000 is more realistic. True, this is a special edition model, but when you boil it down, it's merely a trim package. For me, the color is very attractive and would be on my short list if I was to buy a Quattroporte.

2005 Maserati MC12

Developed to allow Maserati to enter the FIA GT Championship after a long racing hiatus, the MC12 was the first mid-engined Maserati since the demise of the V8 engined Bora in 1978. It could also be seen as one of the most expensive examples of platform sharing, as it was based on the Ferrari Enzo chassis. Longer, wider and taller than the Enzo, it had a lower top speed than the Enzo but was more aerodynamically efficient. Only 50 examples of this exotic were ever produced, and only seven were federalized for the US market. This example for sale in Florida is pretty much as new with 100 miles on the clock.

2005 Maserati MC12

Only 50 Maserati MC12's were produced worldwide and were based heavily on the Ferrari Enzo. Using the same engine with slight modifications, same gearbox and chasis as the Enzo the MC12 was built to be eligible to compete in the FIA GT Racing Series. In addition to its unique bodywork which generates more downforce at speed the MC12 has a removeable targa roof that also sets it apart within the supercar class. Less than 10 MC12's have been federalized for street use in the United States and both cars come with all records, books, and car covers.

MC12 VIN: ZAMDF44B000012103 MILEAGE: 190 mi

This is certainly a breathtaking machine, but isn't for everyone, being that it is geared a bit more for track use than some other, more usable supercars. It even went around the Top Gear track slightly faster than its platform mate, the Enzo, as we can see from this clip:

2005 Ferrari 575M Superamerica

As a follow on to the Ferrari F550 Barchetta we featured last week, here is that car's direct successor, the 575M Superamerica. At the time this car was released, folding hard tops were coming into their own. However, Ferrari decided to be different and opted for a glass targa roof that articulated 180 degrees to lie flat on the trunk lid. The curiousness didn't stop there. The glass employed electrochromic technology, developed by Saint Gobain, which was a first for automotive applications. This enabled the passengers to control the exact level of light they wanted to enter the cabin through the mere turn of a dial. Only 599 of these flip top Ferraris were made. This one for sale in Florida is being offered by the dealer which sold it on when it was new.

2005 Ferrari 575M Superamerica

2005 575 Superamerica! 1 of only 559 worldwide. This is a local car sold new by us. Options include GTC Package, Electric Daytona Seats, Scuderia Shields, Yellow Tachometer, Rear Wall in Beige Leather, High Power HiFi Sound System, 6 Disc Changer, Black Stitching and Daytona Inserts.

While the Superamerica offers greater all weather practicality with none of the compromises of the F550 Barchetta, I still can't help that a premium is being charged for an aesthetically less pleasing Ferrari. As neat as the electrochromic roof is, it does appear a bit awkward when the roof is lowered over trunk lid. So either you get good top down looks with the F550 Barchetta or more usability with the 575M. Personally, I'd choose the Superamerica over the Barchetta, as the flying buttresses do a better job of masking the long trunk lid. When new, these cars were around $280,000. Today, you can expect prices for low mileage examples to hover around $200,000.

2005 Maserati Quattroporte

It has been a decade since the return of Maserati to the United States; consequently values of earlier models like the Coupe, Spyder and Quattroporte, have dropped into reasonable territory. The Quattroporte is about the closest thing you can currently get to a four door Ferrari, as this executive saloon shares it's Ferrari-based 4.2 liter V8 engine. With an arresting exhaust note and classic Italian coachwork inside, this isn't your everyday luxury vehicle. Here is a Quattroporte for sale in Florida with under 20,000 miles that looks rather sharp in dark metallic blue.

- Sunroof

WARRANTY: Each vehicle we sell comes with a 7 day warranty guaranteeing against major defects. We also offer extended warranties at a very reasonable cost from Royal Warranty Administration. Rest assured, this vehicle comes with a clean Autocheck/Carfax with service history. This vehicle was acquired directly from a private seller.

Condition: We are committed to selling only the finest pre-owned vehicles, and this Maserati is no exception. With all used vehicles there are signs of wear, but this Maserati has been maintained so well that there are no defects to note save for minor wear and chips on the bumpers! If you are looking for an incredible deal on a loaded 2005 Maserati Quattroporte, you won't find a better value nor better condition than this mint condition executive sedan. This Maserati also comes with all floor mats, all weather floor mats, two remote keys, spare tire and tool kit. We have a clear title in hand for the new owner.

It is tempting to think that you could own such an exotic vehicle for the price of a new BMW 3 series, but be forewarned that these early examples with their paddle shifted gearbox have been known to be rather cranky around town when in automatic mode. Also, a clutch replacement will run around $2,000 to $3,000, depending on who performs the work. Time will tell just how well these newer Maseratis hold up as compared to the Biturbos of the 1980s, but so far, they are proving to be a marked improvement over their forebears.

-Paul

2005 Maserati Coupe GT

The Maserati Coupe GT and Spyder were the vehicles that reintroduced the Trident badge to the United States market after a little more than a decade long hiatus. Selected as Forbes best GT for 2001, this grand tourer packed a 4.2 liter Ferrari V8 and made good headway in eradicating memories of cantankerous Biturbos from the 1980s.

As with many exotic vehicles, plummeting resale values make these an attractive buy for enthusiasts with deep enough pockets to maintain them. Here's a low mileage, 6 speed manual example outside of New York City for a shade under $40,000.

I am selling this car because I have received my new CLS63.

I really like this Coupe since it doesn't have the paddle shift Cambiocorsa transmission. I was speaking to a gentleman who owned a 6 speed manual Spyder and he had mentioned that the electronically controlled manual transmission had issues with burnt up clutches from maneuvers such as backing up a hill. Technology is great and all, but for me, I'll take my Italian exotics with three pedals, even if the automated transmission can shift faster than me.
