1981 Fiat Spider 2000

The Fiat Spider carried the roadster torch for Fiat for almost 20 years, which is rather remarkable, considering the automotive advancements that came about between 1966 and 1985. Even today, this two seater looks rather timeless. This later Spider for sale in New Hampshire has the 2.0 liter engine with fuel injection that is good for just over 100 horsepower.

A beautiful 1981 Fiat Spider 2000. Body by Pininfarina. Color: Safari Yellow (an ivory shade). Engine: 4 cylinder with Bosch fuel injection system. Transmission: Manual 5-speed. Now with a LOW RESERVE: This car is in great condition and has been maintained in every way that a solid running Fiat Spider 2000 ought to be. I have invested a lot of money into the car (since 2008), and I am proud to own it. And the clock even works! Here’s a list of what’s been done to the car since I bought it 4 years ago:

Engine completely serviced and tuned-up last year, valves adjusted
New timing belt
New distributor, rotor and cap
Transmission completely serviced and inspected
Complete clutch system replacement (i.e., pressure plate and disc)
Stick shift linkage completely rebuilt into top of transmission
New gaskets for engine (wherever it was opened up)
New Airflow sensor (i.e. sending unit for fuel injection computer)

Complete brake job, with exterior brake lines replaced
New vacuum brake booster
Heater core and valve, cooling hoses and anti-freeze replaced
Manual radiator fan override switch installed (automatic fan works too)
Performance tires, (approx. 7,000 miles on them since purchased)
Fresh oil changes every 3,000 miles
Body is clean and rust free
Garaged in winter
Minor deficiencies:

The convertible top looks great on the outside, no tears and water tight.
The interior shows some wear and tear
The radio tape deck is not working, but may only be a blown fuse
I’ve invested my money in the mechanical stuff
I removed the carpet to inspect the floors, etc.
I have all of the carpet sections in a box
Car has a few very minor dings (not dents), and a couple of tiny scratches.

I’ve got an un-opened bottle of touch-up paint for the scratches (original color)

For a Spider hailing from New England, this car looks tidy. The Buy it Now price of $5,350 is attractive for such a well kept classic Italian roadster. For me, only the color and larger crash bumpers of the later Spiders let this car down. If it turns out to be rust free and mechanically sound, this would be a smart buy for someone seeking a lot of top down character for little money.

1975 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

The 2000 was the final evolution of the famed GTV coupe. Introduced in 1971, the twin cam four cylinder engine produced 130 horsepower and came equipped with SPICA fuel injection in the US and Canada. This fuel injection system made a name for itself for being rather unreliable. Other markets were fortunate in that carburetors were the fuel delivery system of choice and with them came a higher horsepower figure of 150. This GTV 2000 is one of those carbureted cars, coming from Europe with a rare factory sunroof.

1975 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 Euro. This is the very rare 1975 production year Euro Bertone designed GTV 2000, VIN # AR105300004710, with the Alfa factory Dellorto twin carbs, (NOT the troublesome U.S. Spica F.I.), finished in the rare European Champagne color with black vinyl interior; this color was not available to the U.S. market. The paint is mostly original, and near perfect, and is best described as "bronze," and all glass was taken out during a factory color respray. This rare GTV also has the rare manual sliding factory sunroof, not available to the U.S. Market.

These GTVs were not imported to the US market after 1974. European GTV’s are faster, handle and look better then the U.S. GTV 2000’s. They weigh about 145 lb’s lighter then the U.S. GTV versions. You can feel the difference at speed. This rare original unmolested GTV is owned by a career Military Officer and Classic car collector, who recently brought it back from Europe. It is rust free, with exception of two spots on the roof, which could be easily re-painted.

The interior is very good with original glass all around. The body is near perfect, with NO door dings (see photos) and all the gaps are true and straight, with no past accident damage. This GTV is totally original and unmolested! It has the original wheels, with GTV stainless steel caps, which have just been newly powder-coated. It drives beautifully, tight, no squeaks, and stiff suspension. It has a clear title and a matching numbers with the ORIGINAL engine, 143 K original Kilometers-NOT miles!

Attached pictures are included of the shock towers, front and rear floor pans-both sides, arches, all 4 jack points, and door jambs which show no rust. Gaps are straight and true, both doors open/close and lock easily, and the steering wheel is the original factory Alfa Romeo "Personal" wheel. The GTV has just been serviced (this week-8 July 2012) with new fluids, including oil filter, lubed, and a minor tune-up performed: four new platinum plugs and NEW plug wires were installed. It also has a brand new German Bosch 12 volt battery. Tires are all-matching German-made Uni-Royal Rallye 195/70 R 14’s with about 70% tread left. The rare factory sliding manual roof is easy and fast to use, with ease of operation!

The Radio is the Euro Phillips radio, but I have never used it, preferring the music of the 2 liter carbureted engine. An Alfa radio Plate should replace it. The original dash is perfect. The door handles work easily with no internal cracks (a common GTV curse that are expensive to replace). All lights work, horn, turn signals, brake lights, E. flasher, heater, fan, windshield wipers, dash gauges, and rear window heater all work properly. The engine is very good, no oil leaks, excellent compression, no smoke, very high oil pressure (see pictures of gauges at speed of 70 MPH), excellent clutch (no slippage), superior perfect 5 speed transmission with no slippage, grinding, or noise. or popping out of gear and 1st to 2nd is smooth!

All gauges work properly, and please note this model has the rare under dash factory installed Clock and factory installed Ammeter (see pics). Also note, since it is a "Euro GTV" it does NOT have the ugly side markers. Also please note that all gauges are Euro, and the speedometer is in Kilometers. This GTV is a wonderful original driver’s car. Superb, very Fast and sunny with the manual sliding sunroof, dependable, performance oriented, and "1 of a kind!" You will never find another.

As the seller, VERY regretfully, I am selling this very rare GTV due to my wife’s illness. I will request from buyer a "buy back option," at a later date, should buyer decide to resell this rare GTV in the future (if agreeable). There is probably no other original European GTV 2000 like this one available in the U.S.! I would like to own it again.

After reading the story of this car, I can't help but have a heavy heart. We all go through difficult times in our lives and I hope the seller's wife makes a speedy recovery. This sale also goes to show that certain cars have a lot of meaning, which is evidenced by the fact the owner seeks to buy it back someday if the new owner ever decides to sell it. These days, GTV 2000s average around $22,000 to $27,000. The best examples can reach into the $30,000 range, and you can find tired runners between $10,000 and $15,000. If I had to peg a value on this one, it would probably be right around $25,000, as the sunroof and European trim make this an especially desirable GTV.

2000 Qvale Mangusta

Originally intended to be the savoir for the DeTomaso nameplate, what was supposed to be the Biguà became the Qvale Mangusta. Short on capital, Alejandro de Tomaso teamed up with American Bruce Qvale, son of Kjell Qvale, who was the first distributor of Jaguars on the West Coast of the US. Powered by a Ford 4.6 liter V8 in a front mid-engine fashion, only 284 were produced between 2000 and 2002, with all but 18 of these sent to the US market. It was an interesting vehicle, with a lot of Ford bits in the inside and an interesting targa top with a pivoting rear section to transform this sports car into a full convertible. This example for sale in Las Vegas has covered a scant 16,000 miles and looks showroom new.

2000 Qvale Mangusta

VIN NUMBER: ZF4AH01A4YM000036. New tires, just serviced. Dealer Brochures, owners manuals, magazine articles, all keys with FOBs. Noting Missing. Complete Mangusta. Introduced in the 1996 Geneva motor show, Bigua was arguably the last new De Tomaso launched before the company ceased production. However, Bigua was never produced under the name of De Tomaso. Instead, most people knew it as “Qvale Mangusta.” The Qvale Mangusta was manufactured Modena Italy, just like Ferraris, Maserati's and Lamborghini's, and penned by Marcello Gandini who also designed the Lambo Miura, Countach, Diablo, Bugatti EB110 and various Maserati's.

Chassis: Designed by former Formula 1 designer Enrique Scalabroni, who worked for Scuderia Ferrari, Williams F1 and Dallara.
Engine: SVT Cobra Engine: Double overhead cams, all aluminium V8 32 valve displaced 4.6 litres that produces 320 hp.
Transmission: Borg-Warner 5-speed manual transmission.
Suspension: Double-wishbones suspension all round with Bilstein (adjustable)
Brakes: BREMBO four piston calipers.

Tail light covers are metal mesh like the Ferrari Challenge Grills. It has a very special roto retractable roof, which could transform the car from a coupe to convertible or Targa. Tubi exhaust system designed exclusively for the Mangusta.

At $29,500, you can look at this car two ways: either it's an affordable exotic or an expensive used Mustang. Granted, an F1 engineer did the chassis, but there's a lot of Ford bits in this car. While the Mangusta was the swan song for DeTomaso and Qvale, in an interesting twist, this car's chassis lived on in the limited production MG XPower SV.

2000 Ferrari F550 Maranello

The Ferrari F550 Maranello is one of my favorite exotics from the past two decades. In an era of bulbous and ill-proportioned aesthetics, the F550 showed that hope wasn't lost when it came to automotive design. The fact that it has a V12 engine and enough room for two and their luggage for a weekend getaway makes the package even sweeter. This low mileage example is a six speed manual and has lived most of its life in sunny Florida.

2000 Ferrari F550 Maranello. VIN # ZFFZR49B000119548. Silver exterior with black leather interior. Only 11,400 miles. Major service done! Leather rear shelf. Power Daytona seats. Factory CD changer in trunk. All books and keys.

At $78,500, this F550 is right in the heart of current market values, especially given the low mileage of this example. With a recent service completed, it should allow potential suitors to rest easy for at least another 10,000 miles or so and allow some time to set aside some cash for the next big service. I never grow tired of these F550s. Twenty to thirty years from now, I believe they will reach the same cult status as the legendary Daytona. They will be remembered as the last of a breed from an era when fuel prices were a fraction of what they will inevitably be and when a proper grand touring coupe meant a big engine and a proper manual gearbox.

1971 Lancia Flavia 2000 Coupe

With cars like the Mini, Citroën DS and Oldsmobile Toronado rolling around in the 1950s and 1960s, it is not surprising that Lancia, itself an innovative company, introduced its first front-wheel drive car, the Flavia, in 1961. With a horizontally opposed four cylinder engine and disc brakes on all four wheels, this was an advanced design for its time. The Flavia name has been resurrected for the modern day, in the form of a rebadged Chrysler 200 Convertible. It's rather unfortunate that some modern day Lancias are merely restyled Chryslers, as this glosses over the greatness that the Flavia name conveys with enthusiasts.

1971 Lancia Flavia 2000 Coupe

The first Italian front wheel drive car. Before the takeover by Fiat in 1969 Lancia’s always were technically sophisticated cars and the designers often had no eye for the commercial reality. The Flavia, which was introduced in 1960 was no exception to the rule. Italy’s first front wheel drive car was spacious, silent, comfortable, ugly, too expensive and was lacking performance because the designing engineer Antonio Fessia thought that fast cars were unsafe.

Because of the high prices Lancia had to ask for their technical masterpieces, sales actually were too low. Nevertheless Lancia added three additional versions to the Berlina. Every one of them designed and built by famous Italian designers. Pininfarina took care of the coupé, generally appreciated as the most beautiful Flavia. The Convertibile, with four seats, was created by Vignale and it looks more like the Berlina than the coupé. Zagato presented the very extraordinary Sport which had great aerodynamics.

His extravagant design however could not please everybody. Although the commercial success was poor (97,300 cars were made), the Flavia stayed in production for more than twelve years. The last two years the car was known as “2000”. It is also extraordinary that the car was manufactured for four more years after the takeover by Fiat. It can hardly have been profitable during that period.

During the twelve years the car was built, three series can be distinguished. Nowadays one would say that the car had undergone two facelifts, the first one in 1967. A new Berlina was introduced and production of the Convertibile and Sport ended. There were no changes to the coupé. In 1969 first the coupé had a facelift, followed by the Berlina in 1970.

This Flavia 2000 Coupé was first registered in 1971. The car is in a very goor condition. It looks stunning in this beautiful colour. It is very comfortable and it drives superbly! The Flavia 2000 Coupé now available at Montagna was first registered in 1971. The car is in a very good condition. It looks stunning in this beautiful colour. It is very comfortable and it drives superbly!

The seller's description is rather impressive, giving a good amount of history along with a little background on this particular car's life. While it could be mistaken for a later Beta model, these Flavias should not be confused with that model, as they were a significant were a huge step forward for Lancia. They were highly engineered cars and known for their durability. At about $17,000, this is a lot of classic Lancia for the money, considering it has covered under 50,000 miles.

Beautiful 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 in excellent condition. This Nero Black exterior over Brown interior has been a one owner car since new, This Alfa is 100% accident free! By its overall condition, it was very well cared for. The paint is in very nice condition, the body is in excellent shape, the Interior is in amazing condition. Mechanically this Alfa is great with only 50k original miles on the engine and transmission. This GTV needs nothing but a fun driver. All services are up to date, Everything works like it should. This GTV is in very good condition and a great driver quality vehicle. This Alfa is by no means a concourse vehicle, but shows beautiful. The new owner will receive with the car, clean and clear title, some service records and some new and used parts. Please note: inspections are more than welcome before the end of auction, at any Alfa shop of your choice.

I like this GTV better than the one featured last month because it has a little more patina and encourages potential buyers to use it as intended. However, it is still a very much show quality vehicle. The reserve is probably hovering in the $20,000 to $25,000 range, and I'd say, for the originality and presentation, anything up to the low $30,000 range wouldn't be out of the question. Overall, this is a nice, honest example of one of the best classic Alfa coupes.

1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

We've featured a handful of Alfa Romeo GTV coupes on CICFS as of late, however, none as nice or original as this car, currently for sale in California. This GTV is a one owner, original car with a shade over 34,000 miles on the clock. Yes, you read that right. From the factory applied cosmoline underneath to the spare tire having never touched the road, this is a time warp car if I've ever seen one.

This is a one owner from new 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000, it was delivered new in Oakland California by Ken Block Alfa Romeo, 3074 Broadway, Oakland, California, It has covered just 38,629 miles from new, a truly incredible car, having never seen rain or inclement weather of any sort, the single owner was absolutely fastidious in keeping his Alfa in pristine condition

Documentation

If you like documentation then this is the car for you, he kept every piece of paper from the original sales contract, window sticker, sales brochure, even the card of the selling salesman. There is a plastic sleeve with all of the yearly registration documents including the first "drive away" permit, Xeroxed receipt for purchase and of course the Alfa Romeo owners manual plus the Service book complete with the credit card style owners identification. There are bills for service work and repairs spanning the years plus a note book annotating service work and mileage in the 80's.There are two Concours trophies from 1977 and 1978, one for first place the other second, these are carefully wrapped in tissue paper. In 1985 the chosen marque of the Monterey Historics was Alfa Romeo and members of the Alfa Romeo Club were invited to take part in the parade of cars driven on the famous circuit, each car was given a large race style sticker with a race style number which was displayed on the front hood, after the parade the sticker was removed, carefully reapplied to its backing and preserved in the file of documents, there is also a brochure for the 85 event with a pull out supplement detailing the owners club cars that took part in the parade, this is also included

Underside

As you can see from the pictures the underside is rust free and original, all of the factory applied Cosmoline is still there covering the sub frame, floors, inner arches, all panels are still in their white paint under the Cosmoline, the suspension is black, the Alfa Romeo white lettering on the shock absorbers is clearly visible and the nuts and bolts still hold their zinc plating. The drive train is clean and tidy with no visible leaks, the rear axle complete with limited slip diff is in its original alloy finish, the gearbox and motor look factory fresh. The sump is protected by the steel fence style sump guard which I am told is an option. Please note that the dealer "window sticker" is included.

Interior

A remarkably well preserved, original interior, the dashboard has no cracks, the door panels are superb, the factory carpets are fresh and black and there is no fading to any of the black finishes. The instruments are clear and bright and all of the switches and gauges work faultlessly, the center tunnel covers are without cracks or flaws and the wood paneling is perfect. There is the addition of a radio-cassette in the dashboard along with a switch under the steering column for a european style rear light. The stitching on the seats is excellent, there are no rips or tears son any of the sides or surfaces. The seat belts work as they should. The only items at fault are the gear lever shroud and the handbrake shroud, they are both torn.

Engine Bay

The motor compartment is clean and tidy, it gleams in its Alfa Romeo white surrounding the lovely twin cam 2.0 power plant, the Spica injection is complete and works flawlessly. The underside of the hood displays the correct factory stickers along with the two concours badges. The original Spica fuel Injection system is still present and works perfectly. The windshield washer bag is present along with the original radiator showing the factory paint markings on it's top surface. Inside the hood all of the original spot welds are visible, the stickers are still under the hood as you would expect.

Trunk

Simply superb, it could be two years old, the original floors are without equal, the paint is superb even in the wheel well and the spare wheel wears its original Michelin XWX tire which has never seen the road. The unused jack is there along with the correct factory toolkit

Bodywork

This car gleams from top to bottom, to say "rust-free" would be an understatement, I cannot find one single rust bubble anywhere, I believe this must be one of the finest GTV 2000s available for sale today. The spot welds are clearly visible on all panels, inside the front and rear hood, the rockers and inside the wheel arches, these are impossible to duplicate and are never seen on restored cars. The sides are flat and smooth without door dings or waves, the gaps are all perfect apart from a slight variation behind the passenger door, it looks like there may have been a dent there at some stage. I bought it from the owners son who assured me that the paint was all original apart from the front hood which had been repainted after it was scratched, this may well be but I feel certain that after forty years it must have been painted, but it's such a superb car and the finish so dazzling that its really hard to tell, I can find no sign of overspray or masking, the front and rear screens appear never to have never been out and it has the characteristic darkening of the paint where it has kissed up against the rubber. The passenger front fender has definitely had some paint below the swage line and backward of the side marker, it is a slightly different shade. The brightwork is absolutely straight and perfect, the bumpers are correct stainless steel and are razor straight, all badges are excellent, all lights clear and bright. The rear signal units were replaced for European spec. orange lenses, the originals are included in their proper Alfa Romeo parts bags, the plastic badge on the trunk was changed for an earlier enameled one, again the original is included.

With about three days left in the auction, we are past $30,000, with a buy it now price of $41,999. While most GTVs of this vintage sell anywhere from $20,000 to $35,000 depending on mileage and condition, it doesn't make the price of this impressive coupe seem unreasonable. The only problem is, of course, do you drive it, or do you continue to use it sparingly as the original owner has? These cars are meant to be driven, and given that reality, regrettably, this would not be the car for me. I'd rather have a car I could use without feeling guilty every time I left the garage. Still, there is no denying just how exceptional this car is. Kudos to the original owner for preserving one of Alfa Romeo's best coupes.

1982 Fiat 2000 Spider

Along with the Alfa Romeo Spider, the Fiat 124 and 2000 Spider were some of the most iconic Italian roadsters from the 20th century. Having enjoyed a long 19 year production run, these cars outlasted their parent brand in the United States. This 1982 model represents the final year Fiats were sold new in the United States until the brand returned last year with the Nuova 500. For the car's final three years on sale in the US, it would be called the Pininfarina Spider; essentially the same car minus the Fiat badge. It isn't hard to find good 124 and 2000 Spiders these days; the later models with the larger, federally mandated bumpers being more common.

Body restored and engine rebuilt in 2004. Approximately 9,000 miles on the rebuilt engine. Engine: new head, bearings, piston rings, timing belt, tensioning bearing, fuel pump, water pump. Transmission: New clutch and throwout bearing. Body: Paint base coat clear coat. New convertable top, rechromed bumpers, roll bars, original wheels have been painted. Interior: New carpet, original seats, steering wheel.

Clean, mint condition 124 and 2000 Spiders hover in the $10,000 to $15,000 range these days, with later fuel injected models with the 5 speed manual bringing the better money. This restoration looks very complete, as the paint, interior and wheels look top notch. There's even a nice roll bar installed, which had me thinking for a minute. My father owned a 1968 124 Spider and he autocrossed it on a regular basis with some success. For the brave new owner willing to fit a set of competition tires on a second set of rims, this would prove to be a very worthy and unique entry in a local parking lot course near you.

1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV

As Alfa Romeo entered the 1970s, the venerable Giulia chassis saw an upgrade in the form of the 2000 Berlina and GT Veloce, or more commonly known as the GTV. The 2000 series was the replacement for the 1750 and featured a 2.0 liter twin cam four cylinder engine equipped with SPICA fuel injection for the US and Canadian markets. These coupes would be superseded by the Alfetta GT, GTV and GTV6, but those models have not been as collectible as examples such as this 1974 GTV for sale in California.

Beautiful 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 in LeMans Blue/Brown Interior, has been a California car since new. The original blue California license plates are intact and in beautiful condition. This Alfa is 100% accident free. Judging by its overall condition, it was very well cared for by its two previous owners. The Alfa looks and drives great with out any issues. This Alfa had one repaint in 1990 with its original color (348 azzuro LeMans) the paint looks very good and shines. Please note its 22 years old paint job does show minor wear. The interior is all original and in amazing condition. This Alfa has 130k miles. Engine and transmission were rebuilt 27k miles ago. This Alfa needs nothing but a fun driver. The new owner of this beautiful GTV will receive with the car, clean and clear California title service records and some new and used parts.

This two owner GTV is well sorted and is the kind of classic you can use without guilt of affecting its value. At around $22,000, this represents good value for a Giulia GTV, as mint condition originals and highly restored examples have been reaching in the high $30,000 to low $40,000 range on average. This shade of blue is also a welcome change from the more common red, silver and green so often seen on these coupes. One also can't overlook the vintage California license plates. They are a great finishing touch.
