A Trio of Ferrari 512TRs

The Ferrari Testarossa was the poster child for ‘80s era excesses. Few realize, however, that this wide-hipped, twelve cylinder bruiser lasted until 1995 through two model changeovers. My favorite of all of them, however, is the 512TR. Much like the 964 version of the Porsche 911, the 512TR smoothed out the classic Pininfarina formula with better integrated bumpers, updated alloy wheels and some updated interior trim and switchgear. At the request of one of our readers, Mark, let’s take a look at three different 512TRs for sale currently. First up is this red 1994 model for sale in California.

1992 Ferrari 512TR. Only 18,084 actual miles! Extremely rare Giallo Fly Yellow exterior and Nero leather interior! This 512TR is 1 of 5 yellow Testarossa's listed on the Testarossa, 512TR, 512M registry.

This rare 512TR is absolutely drop dead gorgeous! It looks and smells like new, it has been meticulously maintained and just underwent an extensive engine out service that included the change of timing belts and bearings, valve adjustment, replacement of cam seals and replacement of all fluids at 17,800 miles on September 26, 2013! The service was performed by Blackhorse Motor Sports in Los Angeles California. As you know, this service is necessary and extremely important so you can have the level of confidence when purchasing this 512TR! The engine was also meticulously detailed during the service while the engine was out of the car.

The 512TR is considered an iconic Ferrari. There are very few Ferrari models that were built that boasted a rear V12 engine! This is one of the last of those rare models. The car drives beautifully and is in exceptional condition inside and out. Upgrades include Tubi exhaust, yellow Brembo brake calipers and a state of the art sound system by Sony that includes a removable face located in the hidden dash compartment.

The brakes work perfectly and the clutch is in excellent condition. All suspension components are in perfect condition. There are no known mechanical issues. The transmission shifts smoothly, the power windows and all console switches work as they should and the heat blows warm and the A/C blows cold! The doors, trunk and engine hatch open as new with no flaws. I would not hesitate to drive this car cross country!

This 512TR is an exceptional value and prices are expected to continue rising on these iconic vehicles since the rear engine V12 Ferrari is a rare breed. Please see my feedback and bid with confidence!

You are viewing a superb example of the 1993 Ferrari 512 TR finished in Nero (solid Black) over Black leather. It has just arrived back with us from a much valued repeat-client of ours who purchased it from us in 2011. It is, as it was before, in absolutely fantastic cosmetic and mechanical condition both inside and out with everything operating as designed.

This 1993 512TR with just 16,782 miles driven from new has obviously been very well cared for in its entire twenty years and it is an absolute delight to drive. When we sold this 1993 512TR to our local Doctor client back in 2011 we performed the factory recommended services due at that time ‘by-the-book’ @15,776 miles totalling $9,941.15, pictures are shown from that time showing the engine out of the car and in our clean-room.

Please call me if you would like to discuss the service documentation as it is too much to list on this ad. The documentation I have, will of course come with the car when you take delivery. It comes complete with the original owner’s portfolio containing the owners manuals and service books plus the original window sticker in perfect condition is present.

The 512 was only brought into the USA for 3 model years and finding one just as nice as this must be very difficult. This one is has the must-have TR upgrade of (a polished stainless steel Tubi exhaust system) plus the modern convenience of a beautifully installed Passport rear view mirror with radar detector, speed reading sensors, GPS Navigation, Bluetooth telephone and Sirius Satellite radio.

If it were my coin, I’d probably snag the black 512TR. True, Rosso Corsa is the classic Ferrari hue, but a sinister looking car calls for a stealth look. In any case though, these Testarossas from the early 1990s have me pining for the days of proper gated gearboxes and flamboyant styling cues that have either been watered down or eliminated in an era of ever tightening regulation.

1993 Alfa Romeo Spider

Another week, another Series 4 Spider on CICFS. I honestly can never get enough of these roadsters. No one will miss you coming down the street in this yellow 1993 Spider Veloce. Having covered only 30,000 miles, it appears almost like new and is sure to its new owner a lot of smiles per miles.

This is the last year for the Alfa Romeo spider, the 1993 model. The last iteration is considered to be the best and I agree. I have owned several over the years and I just took this on a run over the weekend and it was an absolute joy to drive1 They are a blast. There is no need to have a more complicated car to derive more pleasure. Alfa figured out decades ago how to extract the maximum amount of driving pleasure from their cars and nobody does it better. I have 12 cylinders cars and they are not more fun- louder yes but they do not bring a bigger smile to my face while driving. Sadly, the Veloce's must go to fund my other Alfa project but knowing they will be enjoyed is a good thing.

This car is in very good condition with no needs and can be driven anywhere. Just turn the key, drop the top and go! I am happy to answer any questions. From the body, paint, perfect wheels, you would be very hard pressed to find a better example.

The seller describes this Spider as the last model year. Technically, they are correct, as there were no Spiders built in 1994, but there were Spiders sold as 1994 models under the Commemorative Editon, or CE badge. Clean, low mileage Spiders and Spider Veloces can be had for around $13,000 to $15,000. At a Buy It Now price of $20,000, this puts it right up there with the best of the best, but everything from the interior to the engine bay on this one looks showroom fresh. This is certainly one of the better Series 4 Spiders we've seen here at CICFS.

1993 Ferrari 348 Serie Speciale

The Ferrari 348 is a bit of a forgotten Ferrari, having succeeded the iconic 308/328 and preceded the much loved, last of the wedge shaped F355. During the 348 run, a special version was offered with club racing in mind. The Serie Speciale was a limited edition solely for the US market. One hundred examples were produced, with an increase in horsepower to 312, revised rear lamps and a larger front spoiler. A widened rear track and kevlar sport seats rounded out the package. This Serie Speciale for sale in Florida has seen action in the 1996 Challenge Series and a few other events.

VIN# ZFFRG35A6P0094502

3.4 litre V-8

Five speed manual gearbox

Yellow exterior (Giallo Ferrari 102)

Black interior

Approx. 43,000 miles

Rarely available limited production Ferrari 348 Serie Speciale in a most desirable color combination of yellow with a very fine contrasting black interior. This car is in extremely nice and mostly original condition and has not only all of its original Serie Speciale features such as enhanced aerodynamcs, increased rear track width, shorter gear ratios, higher engine output and F40 style seats but also all of the 348 Challenge Series extras that were utilized on these famous single marque race cars. This automobile ran a limited amount of races in the 1996 Challenge Series and suffered no damages during its time on track. The car was then returned to the street where it has resided since.

This lovely Italian work of art was purchased by me last year from a very fastidious enthusiast who maintained an enormous binder of documents, receipts and records including period articles and the ORIGINAL factory brochure. I then had the car painstakingly detailed and checked over in anticipation of being allowed to show it at the 2013 Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach, Florida. The car was accepted and was displayed on the lawn of the famous Breakers Hotel next to a pair of 288 GTO's. The car showed very well and was awarded a 2nd place trophy.

This car runs, drives and looks fantastic and was also exercised at the Thursday track event at the Cavallino Classic trackday in the Sport Group. The car ran perfectly with no problems whatsoever whereupon it was driven back home for a minor washing before its debut on Saturday at the Concours. These limited production Ferrari's are becoming very collectable and hard to find in this condition. I suggest coming to see the car in person at which time you will be thrilled with its appearance, condition and driving experience.

The 348 has become one of those Ferraris with resale values close to where mere mortals can afford them. Of all of the 348s, the Serie Speciale and later Competizione versions bring the highest numbers. At $55,000, we're just around the top of the range of what someone would expect to pay for any 348, but with this car's history and rarity, it presents quite an opportunity to procure a thoroughbred club racer for mid sized luxury sedan money.

1993 Ferrari 512TR

We featured a Ferrari F512M last Friday and the same dealer now has that car's predecessor for sale: the 512TR. This car is slightly more used with close to 30,000 miles on the clock, but with less fussier styling and in classic Rosso Corsa, it doesn't disappoint.

1992 Ferrari 512TR

Very clean 512TR. Fresh timing belt service by us. Red with tan. This is the more advanced version of the Testarossa.

I prefer the looks of the 512TR over the F512M, even if it is down a little bit of horsepower, as it pays better homage to Pininfarina's original vision for the Testarossa. You can't argue that these cars have presence, no matter how brash you think they might be. Given the mileage, the seller is a little optimistic on the pricing, as we'd probably struggle to reach six figures on a good day. Somewhere between $80,000 to $95,000 would be more realistic for this red head.

1993 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

I'm continually amazed just how many clean, low mileage Series 4 Alfa Romeo Spiders are out there for sale. If I owned one, I certainly couldn't resist using it as intended, especially if I lived in a sunny state like Florida, where this Spider resides.

I'm proud to offer this recently serviced Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce for sale. The paint is 100% original and in amazing shape! From new belts, hoses, shocks, bushings and a battery, to the ice cold air conditioning and the rare padded tonneau cover, this is the affordable Italian sports car for someone who wants the best Alfa Romeo Spider out there. I've sold quite a few sports cars on ebay over the last 10 years, and have a 100% positive feedback score. This was my personal car, so not a penny has been spared on making the drive the best a person could have on four wheels. It's fast and nimble, yet comfortable and smooth. Everything about this car will exceed your expectations! There is no mistaking this Italian beauty for any other sports car, just serviced and ready for immediate delivery!

It seems the spread for Series 4 spiders is holding steady at between $10,000 and $15,000. This one is priced right at the top of that range. I'm curious that the seats look to be a darker shade of tan than what is on the dashboard and door panels. I'd suspect these seats might have been reupholstered at one point or another, which is something the seller should address. While clean, it's not the lowest mileage example out there, so I'd suspect somewhere around $13,000 might be just about right for this Alfa.

1993 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

Even though the colder months are upon us in my part of the world, the appeal of the classic Alfa Romeo Spider never does fade. This Series 4 Spider Veloce for sale in Florida is a low mileage, one owner example that looks great in this shade of green.

1993 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

This is an absolutely beautiful, one previous owner, Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce, Folio Green. The car has never had any paint work. The top and rear window are perfect, as is the tan top boot cover. All of the accessories work, including the air conditioning. It has an upgraded Alpine CD/MP3 stereo with auxillary input and bluetooth. The original stereo is in the trunk in the Alpine box. Just under 25,000 miles. All books and manuals present, including the window sticker. Even has the original Alfa touch up paint that is still useable.

Drives absolutely perfect. No shakes, rattles or anything else out of the oridnary. Both sets of original keys present. The car has a few small paint chips which were touched up with the factory touch-up paint. The car is so original that it still has the original Pirelli P4000 tires. They will be replaced before delivery since they have some dry rot, but I left them on for now to demonstrate how unmolested the car is. Interior is as nice as the exterior. Tan leather and suede seats are near perfect and show virtually no wear. Dash is perfect. All of the vents are present and rotate freely. All of the gauges work as they should. No warning lights.

Mechanically, the car is outstanding. It starts immediately warm or cold. Valve train is quiet with no excessive ticking. Oil pressure is good. No smoking whatsoever. The car revs freely and feels good as you row through the gears. which change easily with no grinding or hang ups in any gear. The top handle trim piece that is missing in the pictures was in the ashtray and is now back on the top handle. I could go on and on, but in sum, this is a near perfect, 1previous owner, unmolested car in a rare color that is getting harder to find.

The Series 4 spiders (1991-1994) are the last and arguably the best produced. This pristine example will give the new owner much joy with its good stunning looks and fun to drive characteristics. Whether you are driving through winding roads or down to the beach motoring pleasure awaits you. If you have a feedback of less then 5 please call before submitting an offer or hitting the buy it now button.

This certainly looks like a tidy car, from the door jambs to the leather on the seats. As we've seen, decent Series 4 Spiders are fetching between $10,000 and $15,000 these days. This one is priced at the top of the market, but if it appears and drives as described, it could be worth it to the right person.

1993 Ferrari 512TR

Even though the basic design lived on until 1996, the Ferrari Testarossa was an icon of the 1980s and remains one of the most recognizable Ferraris to date. In 1991, the original Testarossa underwent a facelift, and was reintroduced as the 512TR. The subtle styling tweaks and updated wheels lent a bit of refinement to this 12 cylinder brute, but kept the trademark side strakes. This bright yellow example for sale in Texas is an almost new example with an impossibly low 4,300 miles on the clock.

Incredible 1993 Ferrari 512 TR Testarossa! This amazing piece of art looks as good as the day it left the showroom floor. Barely over 4,000 miles and a near perfect interior! Ferrari black Connolly leather interior, electric windows, tinted & heated glass, Quartz clock, Bosch Motronic 2.7 Ignition/ Injection with feedback control and on board diagnostics, electric side view mirrors, electric door locks, four wheel ventilated disc brakes, 5 speed gearbox with oil pump, limited slip differential, air conditioning, car cover, stereo speakers, antenna for radio, alloy rims. 5.0 Liter 12 cylinder engine. Tubi exhaust and cats.

Includes rare 5 piece Ferrari Luggage! Recent Ferrari Major service with new seals and hoses, new michelin Tyres and Fresh Brakes. Includes original window sticker priced at $195,600 and all receipts, manuals, service records, spares and extras. Bid with full confidence, This is a SPECTACULAR part of automotive history that has been stored in an air conditioned building and detailed weekly. No expense was spared in the care and maintaining this beautiful Ferrari.

There are two things on this car I'm not a fan of. First is the single stripe down the center of the body. This Pininfarina design is one which does not lend itself well to any kind of alteration whatsoever. Second, this was an era where Ferraris had the motorized seatbelts, as airbags would appear shortly after this 512TR was built. At almost $120,000, this is very pricey for any sort of Testarossa, even considering the mileage. Most Testarossas and 512TRs these days are hovering around $60,000 to $90,000.

Theme Week – Non-Italian Cars…Styled by Italians: 1993 Cadillac Allante

From food to science, there are few things the Italians have not influenced in our everyday lives. This influence includes cars. In recent years in the United States, though, you wouldn't know it, as Italian car sightings are uncommon. However, from American classics to British sports cars, the Italians have had a wide reach with automotive styling in the 20th century. Not even the French could escape their inspiration. I want to take this week to look at a few significant and sometimes forgotten classics that Italy had a hand in bringing to market.

In the 1980s, General Motors was looking for a way to position Cadillac as a competitor to the world's best, and their solution was to go head to head with the Mercedes-Benz 560SL and Jaguar XJ-S. The two seater Allante convertible bowed in 1987 to much fanfare. Its body was assembled in Italy and shipped back to the United States for final assembly via specially equipped Boeing 747s. This method of manufacturing garnered the nickname "the world's longest assembly line." It also added a good amount to the sticker price.

The final model year, 1993, was the best year for the Allante. In true General Motors fashion, they killed off this car just as the plot was thickening. Equipped with the new Northstar V8, this engine was a massive upgrade, delivering a whopping 95 horsepower more over the old 4.5 liter V8. It was still front wheel drive, but at least this kind of power had people taking this two seater a bit more seriously. Our feature car is in fact the desirable 1993 model with an amazingly low 18,000 miles in museum-like condition.

1993 Cadillac Allante

1993 Cadillac Allante Convertible. Finished in classic red with beautiful soft tan leather interior and black convertible top. This incredible motorcar has been driven just 18,353 miles and can virtually not be told from new. This magnificent motorcar is equipped with nearly every available option and is finished in one of the most sought after color combinations. We are proud to offer this investment grade, last year Cadillac Allante to the most particular collector, investor or enthusiast who demands the best. You will not be disappointed in this truly wonderful motorcar!

I never liked the Allante when I was younger, but with age, the design has grown on me. Granted, it's driving dynamics may leave something to be desired, but it's sharp, unadorned lines make it stand out in everyday traffic. Even though this particular car has extremely low miles, the asking price of almost $25,000 is well over market values. On a good day, I'd wager to say a car like this would bring $15,000 tops, with drivers in good condition changing hands in between the $10,000 to $13,000 range. Eventually, these Italian-American roadsters may become an icon like the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado, but we aren't at that point yet.
