1971 Lancia Fulvia 1300

Lancia Fulvias are not just another car with a pretty face. These cars were champs of the rally circuit in the 1970s, bringing advanced features like a narrow angle V4 engine and front-wheel drive to the scene. Their well-proportioned looks disguise just how small these graceful coupes actually are. These are fairly uncommon classics in the US, but this one for sale in California is a very clean example with a rebuilt motor and retrimmed interior.

Hi There, for sale I'm offering a great legendary Lancia Fulvia 1300 "as rare as a white fly" highly collectable. Sure you can find an Alfa Romeo Giulietta or a GTV but a Fulvia? ...... 🙂

This car has been in my family for the past twenty years and was shipped to the USA in 2009 from Rome. Garaged in my country house close to Yosemite. The last photo shown was taken in Perugia, Italy on front of the Villa of Conte Armanni my fathers home town. It's only driven occasionally and has never been registered in America. The car has 57,000 original miles the engine was rebuilt (approx. 10K) in Italy and the interior has also been re-done. The transmission is a five-speed manual. Most of the paint is original but repainted in a few areas. Very little rust on the bottom of the doors although the trunk and floors are in excellent condition.

While they are more technically advanced than their Italian rival, the Alfa Romeo GTV, the Fulvia lags a bit behind when it comes to value. The low to mid $20,000 range is the order of the day for these cars at the moment, where this car is priced. Values have started to creep up in recent years; whether it is due to their rallying heritage or collectors began appreciating them for their looks is no matter. The Fulvia is one sweet Italian classic that you can enjoy on a regular basis.

1971 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 Super

After featuring two modern Alfa Romeo sedans this weekend, I thought it was a good time to revisit one of the progenitors of the sports sedan genre, the Alfa Romeo Giulia. This particular Giulia 1300 Super for sale in Seattle is one of the nicest I've seen for sale here in the US and is described as having 21,000 original miles. For those on the hunt for the very best, your search may have just ended.

1971 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 Super

Beautiful 1971 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 Super sedan has just been placed for sale by the current local owner. Purchased new in Italy. Green/Brown, 21K Kilometers, 4-Speed manual, original interior, upgraded wheels and driving lights, original owners manuals, new clutch, fresh fluids. Offered at $29,999.

At $30,000, this Giulia is priced well above the other Giulias we have featured here on CICFS. True, this is a very well sorted, original example, and even the non-original wheels work to give this sedan a purposeful stance. If this car was priced about $5,000 less, I think it would have already traded hands, but I'm sure there is some Alfisti out there who would clamor to get their hands on such an unmolested example.

1969 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior – REVISIT

The 1969 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 we featured last August is back up for sale in Florida with a starting bid of $28,999. That's top of the range money for what is an original car with one repaint.

The below post originally appeared on our site August 14, 2012:

The Alfa Romeo GTV was a popular sports car of its time, but not offered to US customers were the smaller engined variants, such as the GT 1300. These were popular in markets where insurance and tax costs for larger engined vehicles were higher, such as Alfa's home market. This model we see here for sale in Florida is in good original condition. This is also one of the "step-front" models, as the leading edge of the hood sat a quarter inch higher than the nose of the car.

1969 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior

1969 Alfa Romeo 1.3L GT (Gran Turismo) Junior "scalino" (step nose). Equipped with a 1290cc Double Overhead Cam Inline 4 Cylinder gas engine. Body was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone. Vehicle weighs 2100 lbs. All original except for one exterior repaint in its rare and original color of Blu Francia/French Blue /Bleu France/Französisch Blau Paint Code(s): AR-342.

69,044 original miles (111,116 km), this car has never been restored and looks and drives like a new car. All matching numbers as per Alfa Romeo historical register in Milan, Italy. This last year step nose is an extremely rare find and we even managed to keep the original Italian "black plates" which were on this car from new !!! We are convinced there is not a second one like this in the USA.

-The mileage represented on this vehicle is accurate.
-There are no signs of prior damage on this vehicle.
-There are no noticeable dings on the exterior of this vehicle.
-This vehicle has a smooth shifting transmission.
-All power equipment is functioning properly.
-There is no damage evident on this vehicle.
-The engine on this vehicle is running properly.
-The exterior of this vehicle is extra clean.
-The interior of this vehicle is extra clean.

Lately, I've come across a lot of the smaller engined Alfa Romeos that weren't originally sold in the US that have found there way to these shores. They seem to bring similar money to their larger engined siblings, especially if you can find one in good original shape. GT 1300s realistically range from around $15,000 to the high $20,000 range. Since the reserve isn't met at $20,000, I'd say the seller is looking for somewhere around $25,000. While originality is nice, there's plenty of GTV 1750 and 2000 coupes for sale out there for less money. If it was my money, I'd probably seek out one of those instead.

The below post originally appeared on our site December 10, 2012:

As time progresses, new cars appear more and more similar, losing a lot of their character that made them instantly recognizable years ago. When talking about character, few manufacturers have successfully expressed emotion through design more successfully than Alfa Romeo. One of their most celebrated designs is the 105/115 Series Spider, and this is where that car got its start, with the Duetto. Impossibly beautiful, this Duetto for sale in Seattle looks stunning in blue with the two tone black and tan interior.

1968 Alfa Romeo 1300 Junior Spider Duetto

The Alfa Romeo Spider (105/115 series) is a roadster produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo from 1966 to 1993. Widely regarded as a design classic, it remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The three first series were assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco and the fourth series in San Giorgio Canavese. The last Spider was produced in April 1993, it was also the last rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo produced before Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was introduced.

The Italian firm of Pininfarina was responsible for the design of the body; in fact, the Duetto was the last project with which founder Battista "Pinin" Farina was personally associated. Franco Martinengo was the Design Director at Pininfarina at that time. Pininfarina were also responsible for the manufacture of the vehicle's monocoque construction (designed with the relatively new principles of crumple zones incorporated into the front and rear).

A new Spider 1300 Junior, with a 1290 cc engine producing 89 hp (66 kW), was introduced in 1968. The Junior version had black-coloured lower front bumper Due to its round (or long) tail, the Series 1 Spider is sometimes known by the nickname of "Osso di Seppia" - Italian for "cuttlefish bone". This particular car was similar to the model featured in the 1967 movie The Graduate, driven by Ben(Dustin Hoffman), the character.

Our beautiful Duetto 1300 Junior has been restored with new deep blue paint, new black top and interior. The interior upholstery was wonderfully done with great fitment and all floor mats are fitted well. The rear trunk mat is in great shape as well as spare tire and jack. The car runs and drives beautifully. The brakes are solid and transmission shifts well. It has just been gone through by Italian car Master Jim Simpson. A few of the exterior trim pieces have a small ding and there are a couple of rock chips in the windshield, but failing that, this car is near concours as a driver quality car. Solid as a rock, the underside is as clean as the interior and paint. It drives as well as it looks. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer, more complete example of the hard to find Duetto.

Duettos of this caliber are typically bringing between $25,000 and $30,000 these days. If this one could be had for under $30,000, it would be well bought.

1971 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 Super

As a follow up to the tasty Giulia Super Ti, here is another European spec Alfa Berlina from the same period. With dual carburetors and a five-speed gearbox, this 1300 Super for sale in California is a great way to enjoy some classic motoring with a side of practicality.

1971 Giulia Super 1300 cc engine. 5-speed, great driving car. European model, dual carburetors runs great 4-wheel disc brakes.

Interior; newly recovered front seats rear seats in good condition with no rips or tears. Dash is in good condition with no cracks. Headliner is complete with no tears but has a few stains. Steering wheel is in good condition, Interior lights work, radio has a removable face. I never use it as the engine makes a nicer sound.

Exterior/Body; Paint is shiny in good condition and looks very nice, gets lots of compliments and smiles with no fading but not of show quality and not the original color. Bumpers are stainless and in good condition.

Engine/Transmission/Brakes Starts easily on the choke and settles to a nice idle, if it sits for a few weeks it needs a few pumps on the throttle to start. For a 1300 cc engine it has lots of get up and go and sounds great. The transmission is typical of an Alfa transmission and needs to be used gently when the choke is on and the engine cold but once it warms up shifts easily. The clutch has no slipping and works easily, the brakes work with no noise or pulling. The rear muffler will need to be replaced at some time but is not loud.

Driving; Drives down the road nicely I’ve driven it a round trip of 200 miles recently with no issues it is a comfortable car to drive. You are welcome to come and drive it – I recommend anyone wanting to purchase it to come and see it. Currently registered clear title in my name.

Giulia's of this vintage in this kind of condition are bringing roughly between $15,000 to $25,000 these days on average. While this car looks to be in good nick, it would obviously be a good rule of thumb to get a specialist to look it over. I like the honesty of the car. The rather plain color, steel wheels and single headlamps lend the car a subtle aura. But at its heart, it is still an Alfa, which means you'll be in for an entertaining drive.

1971 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior Zagato

Based off of the 1300 Series, the Junior Zagato was Alfa’s attempt to produce a more exclusive vehicle off modest mechanicals. It was a striking shape, with Perspex covered headlamps that surrounded the traditional Alfa grille and a fastback profile with a kammback design incorporated. The production process was rather elaborate, with the basic structure built at Alfa’s Arese factory before being shipped to Zagato in Terrazano di Rho to weld in a new trunk floor. Then the bodies were shipped to La Maggiore in Turin for further assembly than back to Zagato for finishing. As a result, production numbers were not very high, with only 357 built in 1971. There’s not many of these Junior Zagatos roaming US roads, so this one for sale in California is certainly a rare opportunity.

This Junior Z was originally Mello Yellow and remains so today. Paint is aging with some cracking. Floor pans are rust free with all jacking points solid. Glass excellent. Interior is complete including the 2 spoke wheel. Currently the original console is out (but photographed and included) substituted by a Alfa Berlina console.

A 2.0L with performance cams fitted with early cross style air cleaner (Duetto) Looks factory. Original number matching 1.3 liter engine included. Cars is crazy fast. New factory style steel GTA rims with new Pirelli rubber. No 2nd gear syncro grind, box shifts smoothly. Car runs fine and pulls up to high RPMS Drive anywhere. The Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato is the cheapest Zagato bodied car available. There are only a handful of these in the country as they were never imported. Fewer still are the number of times they become available for sale. Of all the 105 series period cars this is the best drive. I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time.

This Junior Zagato is a good driver quality car that could be used as is or benefit from a bit of tidying up. The starting bid of $28,500 is about close to what an average example should sell for, with exceptional, show quality cars bringing close to $40,000. I’d suspect anything over $30,000 is a bit optimistic, but with GTVs commanding strong prices these days, we may see a coachbuilt Alfa such as this benefit from that trend.

1974 Lancia Fulvia 1300 S3

We’ve covered a lot of cars on this blog which have contributed to the impressive collection of World Rally victories Lancia has amassed over the years, but the following car is where it all started. In 1972, The Fulvia Coupe won the International Championship and the famed Monte Carlo Rally after the final Alpine Renault retired due to mechanical failure. The Fulvia was praised in the motoring press as being a triumph of engineering, no doubt in part to their front-drive chassis, four wheel disc brakes and innovative V4 set at an angle in the engine bay. Here we have a 1974 example for sale with the famed red and black livery colors of the era. This car has the 1.3 “S” motor producing 92 horsepower.

1974 Lancia Fulvia 1300 S3

Upon its release in 1967, the American magazine Road & Track described the Fulvia as a precision motorcar, an engineering tour de force, mostly because of its original specifications. A front-wheel-drive car in the sports car world was pretty unusual, but not as much as the narrow 1.3 V4 engine, mounted with a 45° angle. This allowed the engine to be mounted in a very forward position, allowing for a roomier cockpit. Offered in numerous bodies, trim levels and engine powers, no Fulvia was as famous as the 1600 HF which allowed Lancia to take first place in the 1972 FIA International Championship for Manufacturers rally series. We are happy to offer for sale this exceptionally well-preserved example of Lancia Fulvia 1300 S 3 Coupe. In fully original specifications, this Fulvia Coupe S3 only has 70,000 km on the clock, which is very likely to be the original mileage given the outstanding preservation of this Fulvia. Still sporting its original Italian Targa Nera, this all original Fulvia Coupe 1300 S3 is immediately available in Italy.

THe asking price of €20,000 (~$26,000 USD) is about in line with where values of Fulvias are going these days. They are not as common or coveted as their contemporary, the Alfa Romeo GTV, but these diminutive, well proportioned coupes are beginning to claim their fair share of the limelight due to Lancia's storied rally history and the innovative engineering manufactured into them.

Here is some vintage footage from the 1972 Monte Carlo Rally, where the Fulvia 1.6 HF claimed victory:
