We are nearing spring, and for many in climates with four real seasons, this means a return to some automotive activities that weren't possible over the winter. Track days and autocrosses will be starting up soon, unheated garages will become tolerable to finish projects in, and roadsters will once again be tempting those browsing the online classifieds.

For those who might prioritize that garage work on a roadster over the autocrossing and track driving, this copper Alfa Romeo Spider might fit the bill. We often see these in North America with either the 2.0L turbo V6 or 2.0L Twin Spark 4-cylinder. The 24V 3.0L Busso V6 - similar to that found in the 164 LS and 164 Q - is more uncommon, and we like that it's paired with a 6-speed manual on the Spider.

We are still finding cars in our collection to put up for sale that we like but just sit and take up space and we do not drive like they should be driven,  so please don't bother asking if we want anything in trade - we have over 30 collector cars as it is so the answer will be no.

This is a 2000 Alfa Romeo 916 Spider with the sought after 3.0 24 Valve V6 ( most had an underpowered 4 cylinder ).  This car is fast, sounds amazing ( like an Italian performance car should )  and is a convertible.  What more could you want ?  

Rust free body and underneath; shiny copper paint; and everything has been serviced, cleaned and is working like it should as of this writing.   

As this is a 20 year old used car,  it is however sold as is, where is with no warranties. 

My wife finds the ride in this car to be too harsh for her  ( it is a sports car but what can you do ) which is why it is being put up for sale since we don't drive it together and I don't have the space to store cars we do not use.   

Within the past year we have redone the brakes including pads , calipers and hoses; timing belt ; installed 4 new tires; recharged the A/C and it is cold even in tropical S. Florida, and had the garage perform any needed service or maintenance. New convertible top and back window have been installed as well as the original window was started to get cloudy from the Florida heat.

Mileage is in KM but the number posted is our best conversion.  Clear Florida title in my name .   And again, NOTHING wanted in trade.  We have way too many cars as it is. 

These models are known to resist rust pretty well thanks to their fully galvanized body, so we would just want to see some underbody photos to confirm that this car is rust-free. The 3.0L V6 is relatively expensive to service - the timing belt idlers and tensioner pulley should be replaced every other timing belt service, which occur at 3-year 36k intervals. The suspension bushings in the multi-link suspension are known to wear out after time, and on this car are likely to be aged and worn out.

We have observed a moderate uptick in interest for the original Audi TT coupe and roadster here in North America lately. As those begin to appreciate, the Alfa Romeo Spider might become a cheaper alternative with equally distinctive styling and an even better soundtrack. We'll be interested to see where this auction ends up, and we are looking forward to sharing more of the 3.0L 24V cars on these pages.
