1987 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde

We watched a vey positive video review of an e30 BMW M3 yesterday, and it got us thinking about how our Milano Verde compares to our past 1991 BMW 318is. The 318is isn't quite an M3, lacking very much in power compared to the real deal, and missing the suspension and chassis modifications. But, as a reasonably powerful e30 with the lighter 4-cylinder, the comparison is somewhat valid.

Compared to the e30, our Verde always feels more special - from the sound, to the steering wheel angle, to the lower quality interior, to the way it rolls in corners (by design) - driving the Milano brings such a sense of occasion. We don't doubt that e30 M3s drive better and are worthy of $40k these days, but it's certainly nice that Milanos and Milano Verdes, which are arguably more fun to drive, are still priced somewhat realistically.

This might be the Verde you have been waiting for! It’s been in storage for over 12 years, one owner car, rust free very hard to find in this condition. The engine has been fully rebuild 50.000 miles ago, brand new S cams were installed. Included with the sale are all service records and receipts from new. Original bill of sale with window sticker. The exterior is in beautiful condition, it has had some repainting on the bumpers, and hood. The recaro’s are in great condition, the driver seat has been redone, passenger and rear seat are in original condition. No cracks on the dash. Phone dial rims have been powder coated. Although the car looks in great condition, it still needs some work to make her 100% head liner need to be redone, the shocks are original and need replacing, some ball joints and tie rod ends need replacing. Has exhaust leak right header lower part of the header. Brakes fill stiff. Being that it has been in storage for so long I would do a tune up,and change timing belt to be on the safe side. Window move slowly, washer fluid container has a leak, I have done a fresh oil change and filter. The car is being listed locally as well and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. full payment due in 7 days after auction. winning bidder responsible for shipping. Good luck bidding

Our thoughts on this example are mixed. Yes, it is definitely a car that should be at the top of the list for those shopping for a Verde. Single owner, decent maintenance history (hopefully the rebuild was proactive), and very solid condition overall. That said, once you start going over everything that will need to be addressed after 12 years of sitting, the process of making this example bulletproof will take some money - it adds up.

These high-mileage Verdes in good condition are absolutely worth considering. We personally take pride in piling as many miles onto our Verde as we can each year, averaging about 8,000 miles per year. The bones are durable, if not rust-proof, so with proper storage, service, and protection from the outside environment, these can be kept on the road indefinitely.
