Crikey lucky girl a new Lotus Elan SE! S and I had a brand new Lotus Elise on Order we placed this order in 1997 there was a long witnaig list at the time and we finally came to the top of the list in December 1998 it was time to finalise the specification (Norfolk Mustard yellow with Black Leather). Except we couldn’t finalise the spec or take delivery we were by then only 2 months away from the birth of our first child so the order was cancelled and some other lucky soul took our place in the queue. Thankfully, our child turned out to be a boy, otherwise the child would have been saddled with the name Elise for the rest of its life. I hated being a passenger when other people were driving particularly women (no offence!) but S was different her gearchanges were swift and smooth certainly better than mine and her generally level of observation was pretty good. Like me she could jump from one car to another and adapt instantly(whether it was the Evo, CRX, Cupra, whatever) she wasn’t afraid of using the full travel of the throttle pedal, even in the Evo. Sure, we had the odd moment where I would comment Watch out for or something similarly interfering (normally after I had a few pints of ale inside me), but she was genuinely a good driver. I guess it’s just another of the silly things that I miss about her thanks once again for rekindling the memories
I’m out of league here. Too much brain power on display!
