The Biturbo should be met with suspicion. After all, it was selected as Time's Worst Car of 1984. Piling on further, we've been advised by those in the Alfa Romeo community to permit the Biturbo ample berth. And yet the temptation remains.
We aren't fans of the shape, though once you get past the awkward, stunted proportions, the design details are handsome. The wheels are a classic design with a nice deep dish to them. The exhaust tips are interesting, and the fonts on the decklid are handsome. We can imagine how the interior, worn out as it is today, would have looked in the original design concept sketches and we see what they were going for. Still, it brings to mind the current Maserati Ghibli - a car that sells in relatively large numbers (for a Maserati) in spite of its odd appearance.

Car has been sitting for a few years and will need to be gone through before making it a daily driver. Was a good runner before being parked in 2002. I put a new battery and fuel and it started up. This would be a good parts car or get it back on the road with a little love. During the time it was stored, it was always covered. The paint is ok. Still shines up but the clear coat is coming off. The interior is pretty solid considering. It will need some love and shows some sun damage. Tires are older but hold air. Engine is complete and really clean. Comes with a clean title and every manual / book they made for this car. Pretty complete but missing one side Maserati decal. Please see all the pictures and let me know if you have any questions.
This is a NO RESERVE auction. It will sell! Car is being sold AS-IS so you are encouraged to view and drive it before auction ends. You are also more than welcome to have a 3rd party look at it. If you have less than 10 feedback, please contact me prior to bidding. I have lost out from non serious bidders / low feedback bidders before. I am willing to help coordinate shipping / transportation needs. Located in Chico, CA. $500 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours and full payment due within 7 days. Clean CA title in hand.
If owning a V6 Alfa tends to require owning a garage full of spares (just in case?), we can't imagine what it takes to keep a Biturbo on the road. Parts cars are somewhat widely available, which says a lot about the reliability on these. Those seeking to test their mettle in the shop should look no further. The rear suspension is shared with the e21 BMWs, for what that's worth. No excuses for a loose rear suspension then?
The silver lining of these cars lies in the sound. Boosted V6s are capable of some wild noises, and the Biturbo is no exception. Even in stock form, the Biturbo emits a wonderful exhaust note, and with some strategic muffler / resonator work, we bet this could be one of the best sounding cars for the money. We aren't advising that anyone go out and buy a Biturbo, but don't be surprised if we get around to acquiring one for ourselves. Sometimes a warning isn't enough; we need to fail for ourselves to truly understand.
