There's virtue in starting with a hopeless example of a classic car, investing years of time and loads of cash into a restoration, and coming out with one more example of that particular classic on the road and able to visit shows. We can all hope that we aren't the ones to foot the bill or spend the hours in the garage massaging the panels, but for every car we've spent a little bit too much time, money, or effort on, there's a net benefit to the automotive community.
Sometimes - in the case of cars of significant historic value - these restorations can lead to some financial benefit. In order for this to happen, the car must be acquired prior to renewed interest in the particular model in question. Time it right, and by the time the restoration is complete, the vehicle is ready for sale in a competitive market. We've seen this with nearly every 1960s Ferrari, among other Italian classics.

AKA the Sad Urraco. Bought from Canada where it sat for decades.
What it needs THAT I KNOW OF (there could be more),
Motor has sat so long it needs careful awakening. AS IS
Body has dents all over. Yes ALL OVER but little surface rust. Needs louvers and front hood. (I have a set but not included in this auction)
Needs Bumpers (I have a set but not included in this auction)
Needs Drivers side door card, carpets, headliner, mirrors and sun visors, rear seats and upholstery.
Needs struts and a rear spring.
Needs Badges
Needs rear quarter glass. Has new firewall glass.
Have a used windshield comes with not yet installed
You get the picture this is a total job that needs loads of parts, I may have missed like trims, seals.
Basically its a shell and Motor / 5 speed trans. Priced for the Motor / Trans and Motor cradle is how I look at it.
Rims polished to mirror like finish.
Airbox cover fresh finish
We pulled the motor to start cleaning it and getting it ready to be torn down and checked. We can put it back inif you so desire, but it will need to come out to properly get it running.
The good the bad the ugly of the Sad Urraco. Like I said priced for the Motor / Trans..
This could be a really cool fun hot rod or project. HAS CLEAN CALIFORNIA TITLE!
Today's Urraco is remarkably mangled, incomplete, and partially disassembled. It's also priced optimistically. We don't really see the market ever warming to these, either. It's not that entry-level mid-engine Italian exotics don't have appeal to the collectors - check the prices on Ferrari 206 and 246 GTs if you don't believe us. But, the Ferrari 308 and Lamborghini Urraco just don't seemed poised to take off.
This brings us back to our original point: the matter of virtue. Sometimes, it just takes some curiosity, boredom and a lot of cash to keep cars like this from becoming hacked apart for parts. We hope that somebody out there sees to it that this example makes it back onto the road!
Car sold at asking price! But below what eurospairs is selling just a 2.5l motor no trans or cradle for.
NEW owner building a Urraco Bob tribute car out of it.
Congrats! We will need to see photos when that is complete. Our dream is a Jarama Bob tribute!
Same guy who sold this urraco posted a car that may be perfect for that yesterday on Facebook
