Verdant Vermont, poised for fall but summer holding its ground, is to thank for today's featured vehicle. This Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina looked too good under the cloudy skies and walls of trees in its for sale shots to pass over. We can just imagine the exhaust crackle bouncing off of the hills on a jaunt through hill and dale on the way into a sleepy New England town.
These Berlinas were meant to top the Alfa Romeo range of sedan offerings. Longer and smoother than the Giulia they are positioned above, the Berlina has a reputation for being a bit less engaging than the Giulia when the rubber hits the road. We'd recommend driving one before turning your nose up - maybe the smoother styling is worth a small reduction in driving enjoyment to you!

This 1969 Alfa Romeo Berlina is an original. The owner has had it for 2 years. The vehicle runs great and is mainly used for weekend drives.
This is a fuel injected car, starts easily and runs like an Alfa should. Exhaust was new two years ago and gives a spirited sound.
this car has been repainted a deep red, I think original color was an off white. Small split in dash from one of the air vents back to the edge, also some small paint chips seen in the photos. Small split merging at one of the door liner screws shown in the photos as well. Car drives very well, the front end has been rebuilt and the steering is very tight and responsive. The brake boosters are not hooked up which eliminated a spongy feel and leaves the pedal a bit stiff but very responsive. The heater cable is disconnected and the heat is activated with a red valve under the dash shown in the photos. Car is a blast to drive, motor has lots of torque and great throttle response, braking action and steering are very responsive and sporty. Seats are in great shape, I believe that they were recovered at some point. In short a great car to drive and a great looker.
We are listing this as a 2.0L car because the seller listed it that way, and because we see the 2000 declaration on the air cleaner. Judging by the lack of original paint, it's reasonable to expect that the engine was swapped at some point, as originality was never an issue to previous owners. Good for them - it's a reversible swap, but we hope they kept the original 1750cc for use elsewhere! Rust is a huge concern with these cars, and with paintwork, who knows what lurks? The dual master cylinder brakes are not ideal either, from what we hear. Still, most of the parts for these are easy to find at Centerline International.
The appeal in these is pretty simple: they provide most of the driving enjoyment of the Giulia Sedan, but with some extra space, and some more stately styling. And the best part? The market hasn't been kind to these yet. They usually trade for less than half of what a comparable Giulia would sell for. So, consider these the bargain play in classic Alfa sports sedans.
