The Dino Coupe sits in goldilocks region of the 1960s Italian 2+2 spectrum. Focusing on engine offerings, the spectrum runs from the 4-cylinder Alfas, to the V6 Dino Coupe, to the V8 Maseratis, to the V12 Ferraris and Lamborghinis. The body aspires to a Ferrari shape, missing only with the large greenhouse, and the small-displacement, revvy engine could be described as a scaled-down Ferrari unit.
But these Fiat Dinos stand on their own, Ferrari association or not. The shape is near-perfect, almost like an Italian take on the Mopar fastbacks from the same time period. It concedes some drama to its Fiat Dino Spider sibling, resorting to a more subtle approach to the front-end treatment. The design doesn't make a big splash at first glance, instead making a case for itself with each subsequent examination.

For sale a 1968 Fiat Dino V6 2000 in good condition. This is a true Dinoplex car. Originally sold in the US.
This is a matching numbers car with great potential.
Engine is the original twin cam, all aluminum, 3 dual Weber carburetors, V6 Ferrari engine, shared with the Dino Ferrari 206.
This project was started many years ago and then put in storage for several years, now it is time for somebody with time and skills to return this classic to mint condition.
This Dino got out of storage 3 months ago, the mechanic (a Ferrari specialist) cleaned the carburetors, replaced oil and oil filter and started the engine after several years of being stored.
Car was in process of being restored when it was put in storage for many years.
Car runs, drives and stops but it is recommended to have it throughly checked before you use it as a driver again, I only test drove it for about 3 miles after being stored.
The engine sounds great and idles nicely, no smoke or oil leaks anywhere.
Operating temperature is normal and engine does not overheat.
Paint got faded and started to peel specially on the driver's side and metal got exposed in several spots so primer was applied to avoid rust.
This is a rust free car. Rocker panels, floors, trunk and undercarriage are all rust free.
All bumpers and mouldings are stainless steel and are in very good condition. Car is complete.
Clutch works OK
Emergency brake works.
Hood and trunk both locks engage OK
Original Dinoplex ignition works
Power windows work
Headlights and tailights work.
New Kuhmo tires 195/70R14
Cromodora wheels are straight, and cosmetically in mint condition.
5 speed Transmission shifts fine trough all gears.
Odometer is showing 14800miles, my guess is thas has 114800miles.
Things that I noticed:
turn signal switch is not working and does not engage.
Speedometer is not working
Horn does not work (original Fiamm compresor is operational (tested) and pneumatic horns are in place) Stock horn is also there.
Fuel tank needs to be cleaned (it is running now from an external container in trunk as adviced by the mechanic to avoid messing up the carbs)
Front seats have a few hairline cracks in areas of the vinyl as being old but overall in decent shape.
Car is registered and Titled in California. Clean Title in hand.
The car has some restoration history, according to the seller. A quick glance at the underside shows the results of those efforts, too, with not a trace of underbody rust. The engine bay is a similar story - the clean engine is surrounded by metal coated in satin black paint. The final step in the cosmetic side of the restoration will be the exterior paint. We'd run it as-is if it were us.
We recently featured a Dino Coupe project in need of some assembly. In that case, the cosmetics were sorted, but it hadn't been put together yet. Today's example has sorted mechanicals, whereas the final product was unproven on the project Dino. Both ask basically the same price, but our money would go to today's example. It's ready to drive in guilt-free mode, and when the time is right, it can be painted to whatever standard the next owner desires.
